Re: film/foil cathode bypass caps?
Hi! You can put small film caps across the electrolytics, too. I've put film caps in several amps, but mostly prefer bipolars or good electrolytics. It depends on the amp and sound youre after. Stages can get too "fast" ... Ciao Martin Hi Martin - so, are you saying perhaps there is an effect, mayb...

Re: Dumble & Mercury Magnetics
Chris - thanks :) This is all too negative though - think I need to just remove all that. I like the contributors here ALOT, really -- just makes me crazy, rants about overpriced trannies... then implying they are inferior as well.. it's all so subjective and relative, and bitter sounding... nuf sai...

Re: Dumble & Mercury Magnetics
Edited, cuz i just went too far in anger --- just too much hating gettin to me. Some guys like some trannies - just like some guys like SOME amps. Just sick of all the bashing -- specially when it's clearly SO objective! Mercury is good enough for a lot of very well-respected builders, with well-res...

Re: Dumble & Mercury Magnetics
clipped for brevity... Whit, i can say w/confidence, that i DO like the MM plexi OT in my clone, BUT, i also had a MOP100 from N sensor, that actuially had JUST a good a sound, more organic, lile less bandwidth, but good. Im` sure Howard knows HOW to tweak to diff iron! :D If you like MM's plexi OT...

Re: Quick question on opinions re: the "effects loop"
Thanks Tom - nah, I doubt that I'd hear the difference - well, I suppose if doing an A/B, you might sense a little more warmth from an amp with a tube buffered loop, but - as I will not be doing an A/B, and the amp has a whole lot o' warmth already ;), I will go ahead and install the IronSounds. I a...

Re: Quick question on opinions re: the "effects loop"
OK - So, yeah, for me, the reverb works fine in the unbuffered loop and to my ears there's very little if any change in tone. I put the pedal right on the amp and run 8" patch cords to the loop. Of course a buffer would be cool, but not at this time - and there's hardly room in an ODS (mine anyway -...

With respect to those who deserve it..
I notice that some members, more familiar with him, have not responded. One of our greats here, knew the guy before he (clearly) lost it, and prefers to remember him that way. This member is a very generous and talented guy, and I totally respect him as the gentleman he is. He and several other adva...

Quick question on opinions re: the "effects loop"
Hi - Built my first (and only thus far, unless you count my DumWreck that I've been twiddling the last couple weeks - started as an express and ended up wiring up that unused triode and adding trimmers, etc.. until it's rather ODS-like (relatively anyway))... But, to the "loop" question: This little...

Yeah - been listening to the Redplate amps for awhile now on youtube, and damn they sound good. Nice looking too.

Re: Ceriatone Dumble
schematic labeled "1Z4", basically a mod'd #124 I guess. Stephen Exactly. I built '1Z4' with a set of mostly stock Ceriatone Overtone boards. Right on. I have been reading your trials and travails (sp?) for quite awhile now bro. Your recent build thread was great - helped me with my own and psyched...

Re: Ceriatone Dumble
Aprilia1K, ... also changing the trim pot to more precise 100k value. The one Nik used had 82k.If it is that low,You should add a resistor to have 100k going to ground. ..... Worth to install is a "Treble Bleed" ; it is just a 330k resistor and a 1n capacitor in series going from "X" to Ground. Than...

Re: Ceriatone Dumble
Hi, I changed the OT of my Ceriatone to a Fender 018343; much better tone and more usefull with different speaker cabinets.I also increased the resistor between CL2 and the OD to 220k and the resistor in front of the Ratio pot to 180k.Level pot changed to 100K A .The OD is smoother now and the leve...

Re: MusicMan RD-50 to CLone project
Thanks for the feedback - the circuit is different now - I've attached a schematic that I think is accurate.... This really does sound sweet, and a fantastic layout, esp. for a conversion in a small chassis - very very nice. I was wondering if you happen to have voltage readings for this amp? I hav...
