It could be the power supply - if the sound is 60/120Hz, you may have a filter cap that's not grounded.

You might want to look at the B+, Vscreen and Vbias for noise. Would a DVM on VAC pick up anything useful here?

<strike>I'm a little surprised no one has mentioned the 'Stokes' mod - moving the PI up one node in the preamp power divider/filter string. Then again, I don' really know if that will produce the result you describe.</strike>

Sorry if this question has been answered too many times, but it wasn't in the FAQ, and searches on Drawing, CAD, Schematic and Layout returned either nothing or too much not-what-I'm-looking-for-to-plow-through (24 pages, c'mon!) What CAD tool makes those nifty layouts I see posted here, at Ceriaton...
