Re: Parts bin Princeton Reverb

Thanks guys. I got it all finished up this afternoon. Sounds great. The tremolo was weak, so I subbed a 470k for the 1M on pin1 of V4. Also, I used a modern 3 spring short tank instead of a vintage 2 spring tank, which tames and fattens the reverb a bit. I had forgotten how much fun these Princeton ...

Parts bin Princeton Reverb

I was staring into my parts bin a while back and realized that I had enough original parts in there to build a new, old Princeton Reverb (parts, including transformers, from several different years from about '65 - '75). I was just missing the chassis and cab, so I sourced a nujwoot chassis set and ...

What about chassis? I presume it's a lot longer than the standard ODS

cheers

The chassis I used was 22.25". With that size, the can end up at 24", which is just about perfect in my opinion.

Re: MHartman SSS layout questions

Hi guys, Thanks for the interest in this amp. I have attached a revised version of the layout (thanks for the feedback on this) and in pdf version so everything is crystal clear at 100% zoom. For a bit of background, I built a couple of years ago when there wasn't much SSS info available. I original...

Nice work! Thank you. BTW, my original amp build on this circuit is still out on tour going strong.

I was too lazy to make one. If someone wants to write it up, that would be very cool. This amp was a few years ago, I'm on to other ideas these days.

Re: Steel String Singer Layout?

A guy posted this schematic a few years back. Not 100 or 150 watter but good platform. Thanks a lot for the schematics! Are the High/Low filters as simple as that? Just switching between tonestack values for MIDDLE and TREBLE? Thanks a lot The filters aren't part of the primary tonestack. They are ...

Re: UP dumble for sale

I've peeked inside Brandon's Bludophonix and built one myself out of an old Super Reverb a few years ago. This looks very similar. I'd have to check my notes to see if exact.

I remember reading that he burned a bunch of TAG folks on deals. No idea on the specifics or validity.

Re: Aluminum chassis

I've used both RJ's and Watt's chassis. They are both really good. We are very fortunate to have these options available! If you can, go with RJ and get some boards or transformers while you're at it.

Re: SSS#002 low voltage in original drawing

The original drawing was done in Japan. The wall voltage is lower there hence the unusually low voltages on the original schematic.

Re: Help on new #40 build

I find that 40W bulbs glow too bright for larger amps (50W and 100W). While it isn't as safe, I typically use a 60W bulb in my limiter so I can tell the difference between normal current draw and s short.
