Don`t buy a B Hefner neck whatever you do . fret job was lousy and very pricey , added $100+ micro crap or something bend a note over the 12th fret and it dies before a half step . Neck is bowed and no amount of truss rod adjustment helps . In short - a piece of POO.

Lower wattage Liverpool
I have just completed a 4 x 6AQ5 liverpool and the results were excellent . I used a different P.S. at only about 300vdc B+ and utilized a Hammond 1760J(4000CT) fender replacement OT rated 35W . from my crude calculations I determine it is putting out between 20 and 25 watts .

My Bad Rectifier dummy
I guess there is no need to ground the center tap on the 5vac , otherwise it makes the Rectifier tube make big arc across plates (ouch) . Stupid newbie mistake . aarrrgghhh!!!

5AR4 arcing
Plus one, the 5AR4 has a max first filter value of 60uf. That may or may not cause issues since you are only over spec a bit. Did not get enough time to check unloaded DC voltage on the first cap . A.C. to the 5Ar4 is 560vac or 280vac a side . Maybe I am over the Mallory spec of 450vdc.?? and the ca...

Re: Rectifier Arc, Bad tube?? help
Posted: Tue Apr 07, 2009 10:01 am Post subject: -------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Since it fires up with no tubes installed then you might want to try a different set of tubes. 20 seconds is about the time it takes for output tubes to come up to temp an...

Maybe some thing else
 5AR4 outa my other Rocket does the same thing in this amp . about twenty seconds or so after power up , tube arcs and takes out the fuse .Even before the standby switch is turned on . I used an 80uF Mallory TC-80 in the first tank . The other Rocket Has 2 - 40uF in this spot . Could I have a...

Bad 5AR4
Hey thanks guys :) , I`ll try the one out of my first Rocket(Ellen Rachel) . That one is a JJ as well . Both bought from a local guy , maybe he`ll give me another one . Did not think a wiring issue would do that , and the PT voltages measured were within a few volts of the other Rocket . I think a 5...

Donna Rocket
#5 Yes, put the solder lug there, I also put my bleeder resistors there coming off the pin on the recto that goes to the cap stack. :D Are these poly caps "Panasonic" . I used them in my Rocket and think they sound great . Any one else compared these and the "Orange drops" for a taste test ?? 8) Cam

6V6 Liverpool
I think the front end is the same as an Express , but the power section is cathode bias like a Liverpool . I have built a Rocket , but not an Express so I am not sure if the main boards are the same . I modified the LiverPool dwg. for this build . Cabinet is Pine (Alberta has lots of it) and the fac...
