Re: Advantages of PTP wiring?
Right now I'm sort of preferring double sided PCB, plated thru holes with turret terminals for external connections. I'm sure I have posted this before but I like looking at the pictures :D [img:1024:681]https://lh6.googleusercontent.com/-2z7O8DLLk-U/UF4XTPnfH4I/AAAAAAAADS8/08FyqIO9bbA/s1024/pre01_p...

Re: IEC Socket Dimensions
I prefer the IEC inlet connector with an integrated fuseholder. The fuse cannot be accessed unless the power cord is unplugged - a good safety feature. Creating a chassis hole for these is an irritating process though . . . [img:189:190]http://internationalconfig.com/prod_shot/57211.jpg[/img] I got...

Re: HP 200CD oscillator restoration
The 200A used them as temp stabilization of the wein bridge oscillator amplitude.

Re: Latching Relay Switching
(I don't have an amp with relays but) I made a little three channel momentary debouncer using a PIC12F675. The debounce delay is configurable. Demo here . At the end of it I am setting the debounce delay. The value gets stored in EEPROM. It would need the usual TTL relay driver, open collector what-...

This might be a tube parametric. I found it here. Listed as a Blonder-Tounge "Audio Baton" (tube graphic equalizer).

Re: What do I need to build Guitar tube amp?
Ensure your scope probe can handle the DC voltage you will be measuring. I use one with a 2kV rating. No problems so far.neil.ferguson wrote:I have a scope, which I have used many times, but never on a tube amp. can someone advise on best practice for this, where best to connect earth etc.

Re: Round over radius?
For the 1/2" radius corners, which all Penn-Elcom seem to be, a 3/8 can work once the covering has been laid on which seems to increase the radius a bit. I have found a couple of corner types which may fit a 1/4" roundover. The small plastic interlocking type seems to be made for a smaller radius. I...

Re: Finger Joints
I bought the Porter Cable dovetail jig on CL. I think it is limited to 12" board widths without removing the template and clamping it to the work itself. It did okay.

Well, I tried a 10k at the wiper and it seems to have done the trick! Weird one.

120Hz hum when volume pot is off...
...but not when it is the least bit on. This is a bass preamp, basically an Alembic F2B with some tweaks. It pretty much is a Fender tone stack between 12A*7 stages. When the volume pot is only slightly off of fully CCW the hum goes away and it is quiet. The wires to the pot do run some distance, ma...

Re: Preamp gain stages: how they sound and why
I've used wav files as the input for my spice sims. It processes it through my simulation and then writes the resulting wav file out which i can compare to the original input. I don't know how accurate it is but it is fun to fiddle with.

Re: recommendation for automatic wire stripper for PTFE wire
A Stripmaster with the MIL spec blades will strip PTFE cleanly. For example my L-5217 uses the L-5560 blade set for 26 through 16 gauge.
