Re: How Fast Are You Moving When You Are Sitting Still?
Speed is relative, the chair is moving at the same speed you are, so you are at rest and the chair is expending energy resisting all the forces and doing all the Work, thats why when you get up after you have sat in a the chair your potential energy is high again, because the chair has done the Work...

Re: New Rocket build
you wont easily get a switch rated to those voltages so generally use one that has a higher current rating/bigger contact gap, so a DPDT toggle switch with a 10 - 15A current rating would be typical, same sort of switch you would use on the power switch. don't use a mini toggle switch! Its is a sad ...

Re: New Rocket build
Andre, You are thinking about the komet amp fast/slow switch, the rocket one changes the voltage taps.

Re: New Rocket build
Looks Great Andre, You can probably get everything you need there but it knowing where to look that is the hard part. Mark, have you been to South Africa? you seem to know the customs routine well haha whenever I send gifts to my family I put a little note inside for the customs/post office guys to ...

That brings back memories, here Gabi shows how to make a tester, this was all the rage on 18watt.com a few years ago

Re: Mind-Blown: Orange Drops have Polarity?
Yes you can, 1. make up a short cable with a 1/4 jack Plug on one end and two croc clips on the other end. 2. Plug it into an amp volume turned up a bit and connect the cap between the croc clips, hold the cap body , not touching any metal parts, it will hum. 3 Now flip the cap around on the croc cl...

Re: Where do you guys get your turrets?
The gold plated ones are the same brass turret but with better plating and much better solder stick, I use gold and silver plated turrets for all my builds, they cost a little more but they work great.

Re: 5.2k and 6.6k Express OT
The output transformers input impedance is dependent on the rail voltage. The lower the rail the lower the primary impedance. think that should say the selection of the output transformer primary impedance is dependent on operating voltage, once you have a 6.6k primary that what you have regardless...

Not done it, but my guess is it is going to sound like a Marshall with lower plate voltage.....

Re: Watford Valves - Harma range
Actually in the UK you can return anything bought online within 14 days no reason needed, its the law. I don't think it applies to second hand items though??
I assume the factories do sample testing 10 out of every 100 sort of thing, but they wont be caring about noise or microphonics

Re: Watford Valves - Harma range
I buy factory tested valves from lots of places that are fine, honestly if you bought 10 x JJ ecc83 you may have 2 that are a little noisy or microphonic, so when I buy a few factory tested valves and find they are all poor then one can not help but think you have been conned... just saying. I have ...

Re: Watford Valves - Harma range
its the factory tested ones I have had issues with from them, put a whole bunch of Tung Sols in the "use with caution bin" as they were all noisy and microphonic, never had that many issues with factory tested valves from anywhere else, including the factories. I do use their tested valves when I am...

Re: Watford Valves - Harma range
Do not buy the untested valves from hotrox, fork out for the tested ones.... I suspect the "untested" ones are the ones that failed the test... Ask me how I know this....
