Re: TW Rocket combo build

Looks nice Mark, I have thought about a combo but am concerned about the weight of the PT on the Alum chassis, are you going to support it in the cab? I also added a mid control to the last one I built, makes it much more versatile, been thinking about the PPIV master too, does it get much crunch? C...

Re: I'm officially PO'ed

unfortunately this does happen with all tranny makers and unless you get them to fully test them then there is a chance. of course we all probably expect them to be tested.... maybe something has happened in shipping too..

sorry for your pain

Re: Spectraflex Cable Review

I bought my last few, so don't feel too bad Ryan, I have more important things to solder up right now. But when I am gigging allot I prefer to make my own and prefer to use 2 core + shield mic cable and use both cores for the tip, never had a failure of one of these.

Re: Rocket Problems

Also meant to say you need to twist your speaker out jacks by 180 degrees, so that when the jack plug is inserted the weight of the cable keeps the tip pushed against the contact, small things but it is not by accident that MikeZ does it that way....

Re: Rocket Problems

Well done guys, I had a look at this thread last night and had a whole bunch of thoughts but you beat me to it. is it a faulty cap, should be fine with a good cap in place? Couple of things you may want to try. must do, you have your heater wires coming through a drilled hole that still has sharp ed...

Re: rockets voltage problems

Well you are drawing current when you should not be, so you either have something connected wrong or you have slithers of copper touching something they should not be... have you followed the schematic? pictures please.... looks like you have grounded the plate resistors, dropping ~ 11v to the final...

Re: Rocket Problems

You may have some severe ground loops on that layout using that cap can. I am of the opinion that, long term, your build is not very safe, once you have this ringing thing sorted out you need rubber grommets fitted on the chassis penetrations, they cost cents are are not worth worrying over, if your...

Re: More rocket fun

I use similar methods for all my builds/layouts and I have built some pretty high gain monsters that are really stable and not nearly as noisy as production amps with the same amounts of gain. But a cranked amp can be hissy, but thats just resistors and tubes for you. I remember being at a Gary Moor...

Nice drive sounds, is that just the amp with some effects added afterwards?

Re: More rocket fun

also meant to say how did the noise of the amp compare to the express copy, the express has allot more gain so should have been more noisy. I also don't think most amps that are set up to overdrive the power section work well with lots of pedals, all the noise from the pedals gets amplified big time...

Re: More rocket fun

I know, I had a young local guitarist here the other day, looking at building him a new rig, I am sure he thought it was loud but I felt it needed "1 more" we were looking at hard rock tones, going to get the Les Paul out with it tomorrow so maybe I will change my mind then. I used to gig happily wi...

That video is a bit bright, so will hopefully get some more done, is it bad that I am starting to think 30w is not very loud....

Re: More rocket fun

the outer ring of the input jack touches the chassis and grounds the guitar directly to the chassis, since this layout only uses 1 connection to the chassis it should not be a problem, unless you have grounded the circuit elsewhere. you can try a dirty fix by just unscrewing the input jack and disco...

They are made by Vishay, you can probably get them at Mouser in the states
