Re: Choke recommendations for Rocket
I used a Hammond 158L, sounds pretty decent. Haven't started rolling pre amp tubes yet.

Re: new Express build problems
your black wire from the output transformer goes to the groung on the speaker output jack, which is also grounded to the chassis? I think it has been asked before only one of your output jacks the tip is grounded correct? I had a similar problem when I first fired mine up. Both of my output jack tip...

Re: Just completed my Ginny !
I just followed the BOM and that's about it. been playing through an old 69' marshall 4x12 cab with 30 watt drivers, and tried out an old 2x12 sealed Hilgen cab with 25 watt pre Rola greenbacks and have a lot of distortion on note decay. didn't experience this with the 4x12. I think I'll need to go ...

Re: Just completed my Ginny !
The EL 34's that she has currently are Sovtek's from the Reflector Factory. These are just my fire up/ test tubes. I will be installing Mullards this weekend.
I fired it up with old preamp tubes, then we installed Amperex 12AX7's in V1 and V2 then put a 60's RCA 12AX7 in the Phase inverter.

Just completed my Ginny !
I finished the soldering over the holiday, and the troubleshooting late Wednesday evening. The only Snafu I had was the 2nd grounded input jack, Duh! I wanted to fire it up so bad, then I remembered the shorting jack and clipped the wires to it and VOILA!!! Sound!!!!!! Man!!! This thing is loud!!! I...

Re: GT Bias tool
It gets me in the ballpark. I have a friend that works on tube stuff all of the time,ie.guitar amps, high end audio, Mac's, Dynaco, Eico,etc.. who likes tube stuff and I will run it by him to fine tune and do some tube rolling.

Re: GT Bias tool
I have owned this for several years and have used it occasionally when retubing amps, I just wondered if anyone has used one in biasing their "clone". I read through the archives and have seen the numerous posts on biasing the amp, and have absorbed what has been established and will go ahead and us...
