Dumble ODS #115
I had a chance to play a Dumble ODS today, #115. Didn't get to crank it up very much, but still sounded pretty good. The owner said it was one of a pair bought from Dumble in the 80's. He wanted $75,000 for it.

Re: Mayer on Conan
All those great amps and a generic mediocre tone, IMO. What did you guys think? I agree. Actually, I thought that John Mayer's performance was not good. His tone has always been that way: a wall of amps that many guitar players would kill for and sounds ok at best. It's just not in him, not in his ...

Re: Mayer on Conan
That looks like a Steel String Singer, but different than his #2 with the red switches. It could be the same amp with different knobs and switches.

Awesome! Is that a 150 watter? Very exciting to see an authentic looking SSS clone.

Re: Why do my Deluxe Reverb and Twin Reverb sound so different?
Since it has the original transformers, I believe my Twin falls into that "in between" category. I'm not sure that I'm fully qualified to poke around inside that amp, so I'm taking it to be looked at and serviced accordingly. I don't know the last time it was serviced, so some replacement parts may ...

Re: Why do my Deluxe Reverb and Twin Reverb sound so different?
It's a 1970 that's been blackfaced back to AB763 spec. I've got two Delta Pro 12As in the Twin's cabinet wired for 4 ohms. When I use the Deluxe, I unwire one of the speakers and plug the wired speaker into the Deluxe. I wanted to replace the stock Jensen with a Delta Pro, but the choke is the in th...

Re: Why do my Deluxe Reverb and Twin Reverb sound so different?
I'm using both amplifiers through the same speaker/speakers which makes the difference even more pronounced than with the stock speaker in the Deluxe. I'm using Eminence Delta Pro-12As with the Twin and Deluxe. The Deluxe Reverb sounds amazing through the Delta Pro. I've tried swapping all the tubes...

Why do my Deluxe Reverb and Twin Reverb sound so different?
The Twin can't achieve the same clarity, sparkle, and overall desirable tone that my DRRI can. The cleans on the Twin don't even approach those on the Deluxe. With a clean boost in front of the Deluxe I'm getting serious 'Texas Flood' tone (Like "Lenny" clean and clear). Why wouldn't the Twin be abl...

Re: Eminence Delta Pro-12A in DRRI
Is the EVM Classic worth the extra $100? Like, will I be wow-ed by the difference between the Delta Pro and the EVM?

Eminence Delta Pro-12A in DRRI
It's time to replace the stock speaker in my DRRI. I've got Eminence Delta Pro-12A's in my Twin and I've been demo-ing one of the speakers in my Deluxe with great results. Are there any similar speakers I should check out before I go ahead and get another Delta Pro? I'm not looking for speaker cone ...

Talbany,
I moved to the area in 2002 and I've only been playing out for a couple of years, but if you've been in the area then it's certainly possible.

Re: What does the #40, or other early Dumbles sound like?
Just something I saw that made me curious. In the current issue of Fretboard Journal magazine there's a great interview of David Lindley done by Ben Harper. There are pictures of both of his ODS amps, #2 and #8 I believe. Instead of the Rock/Jazz switch, they both had Mic/Guitar switches. Does anyon...

SRV SLO-100
I just read this on an SRV website talking about his rig. Anyone know if there's any truth to it? Soldano SLO 100 - Mike Soldano built Stevie a customized SLO-100 after repairing a few of Stevie's amps. Stevie told Mike that he wasn't happy with the fact that he had to crank his amps to such high vo...
