YCV50 PT DC Heater Circuit

Hello, I a have a set of transformers from a YCV50 I'm looking to build a Trainwreck out of. The PT specs are 0-300V @0.2A,0-6.3V @3A and 0-28V @0.2A. On the YCV40 they use a bridge rectifier on the 28V tap and a 24V LDO to get 24V DC for the SS reverb and run the rectified3 28V through 2 parallel 1...

Re: Komet possible with classictone 40-18023?

Sounds like the 40-18023 is a no go for a real komet build. Anyone have an idea other than the typical 50w marshall build I might use this transformer for?

Komet possible with classictone 40-18023?

Hello,

Im wondering if anyone might be able to let me know if a classictone 50w Marshall 40-18023 power transformer could be used in a Komet style build? I have one I got in trade for a repair I did for a friend and would like to try something a little different than the typical jcm build.

Build suggestions for Hammond 279X

I just picked up a few Hammond 279X power transformers from a government auction. They are 115V Primary 850V center taped @ 172mA, 5V@3A and 6.3@5A. I'm curious what you guys would suggest building with one of these.

HELP - Standalone Preamp Balanced Output Options

Hey everyone, I'm looking at building a standalone tube preamp and was wondering what experience people have adding a balanced line output. I know a transformer is the most likely option for this kind of application but is it possible to use the sacrilegious op-amp to do the same thing? Let me know ...

Re: Anyone order turrets from Tube Depot lately?

I received a package with 100 turrets last week and they all looked brand new. The batch I had ordered a few months ago were corroded and I ended up having to blast them with flux to clean them and then tinned them.

Build Suggestions for Hammond 261G6 PT?

Hello everyone, I'm wondering what ideas people have for builds using a Hammond 261G6 power transformer. To save the look up this is a 250VAC C.T @ 130mA and 6.3VAC @ 2A. All I've seen on this forum using this transformer was a post involving the pocket rocket small tube builds. I'm curious if anyon...

Split Power and Preamp Boards?

Hello All, I imagine this has come up in discussion before but I am wondering what Ken's reasoning might have been behind using two separate boards for the preamp and power sections in his amps. Now I imagine its just to eliminate the influence of one on the other but I'm wondering if anyone with a ...

Re: The Mini Wreck Lives !!!

Any Idea what kind of changes might be needed to use a 6BM8? I know its supposed to be pretty similar to a 12ax7 and el84 in one.

Re: The Mini Wreck Lives !!!

Does anyone know if you could build something similar to the mini-wreck using a 6BM8 in place of the el84 and 12ax7 in v2?

Re: Is there a SE 6L6 Wreck out there?

RJ, I found a thread on the DLM where you had an unverified schematic. Im wondering if you've put together a working DLM since then and if so what kind of changes did you end up making.

Re: Is there a SE 6L6 Wreck out there?

Looks like I've sparked a bit of discussion with this one. I understand how the "fake PI" would work here im just curious how important it would be to a single ended design. Zippy asked earlier about the rocket with the cathode follower and if that would need a PI and i would like to know this as we...

Is there a SE 6L6 Wreck out there?

I have a couple transformers I'm thinking of re-tasking. PT - Hammond 270EX 275-0-275 OT - Hammond 125ESE 15W I've seen a few SE threads around about low wattage wrecks but from what i've seen they all used el84's. I have a few spare 6L6 tube that need a home so id like to match something up here. O...

Re: Help With a New Project

Those are all interesting ideas but im trying to keep things matched with the Iron I have and that 1750E is only a 15W output transformer typically used in a tweed deluxe. I was thinking I could go 6V6 rocket with this iron and that would mean a third preamp tube in the mix. Im not one for a lot of ...

Re: Help With a New Project

The post PI master sounds like it would add more range to things and that schematic is only a 2 tube pre section 1 12ax7 then the 12at7 for the PI so no spare stages there.
