Re: The Eagle Supre - Big SE Amp

RJ, Got to play with the amp more over lunch. Finally got to crank it and play with the tone knobs. The treble control seems to work really well. But I agree with you on the bass control. It works ok. but I would think it would be better. Looking over some fender schematics I see the Princeton aa964...

Re: The Eagle Supre - Big SE Amp

Yup I have a strat a tele and a carvin ct4 that I'll do some testing with. I also have 2 7-strings 1 with an emg as well.

I was thinking about a mid pot as well. I'm guessing from your post it doesn't do much?

Re: The Eagle Supre - Big SE Amp

finished the amp tonight. Didn't get to play with it too much. First off it is the quietest amp Ive built so far! I haven't shorten any of the transformer leads but its still very quiet. I forgot to hook up the negative feedback loop but it sounds good. Plan is to put a pot there to have a 'presence...

Re: The Eagle Supre - Big SE Amp

No problem RJ I had some 22k resistors on hand so I used that for now. If you look at the pic I have it going from the left of the push-pull pot to ground. So an easy place to change values if I want to tweak it a bit. I noticed in the kit the trim pot, but no place in the schematic for it. I'm gues...

Re: The Eagle Supre - Big SE Amp

got my board finished and most of the offboard wiring down. Started putting in the transformers last night. So far only mods are putting a push-pull pot in for the volume control which will bypass the tone stack when pulled. Not a huge fan of how I have my ground pulled in by the jack, but I can alw...

Re: The Eagle Supre - Big SE Amp

got my kit today, probably the best packing job I've seen. I love the edcor iron! I'll do an inventory later and let you know if I'm missing anything rj Aaron Edit: Kit looks good. I think I'm missing R14 and R15 but I have spares anyways. Any problem with using 1.5k for R15? Everything is looking g...

Re: The Eagle Supre - Big SE Amp

gotcha. Looks like mine should be here Friday. I'm really looking forward to getting it. I want to sue this as my experiment amp. Maybe try some different tone stacks. Change the 12ax7 out for a 6u10 and parallel the lower gain triodes. Please with the negative feedback loop. Fun stuff like that. Aa...

Re: The Eagle Supre - Big SE Amp

I am making my way back to the Eagle Supre to add some final touches. One thing I wanted to do was play with the voicing on the amp. I was looking over the coupling cap choices that are in the rev 1.4 version and I was wondering if it makes any sense to have C3 as .02uF while I have C2 and C4 at .0...
