Hello. I am moving from my house in the sticks where I can crank all my stacks and various 2 x12 to NYC. All benefits of my divorce .... I have been looking into these speaker simulators, anyone have any luck?
I would love to be able to use headphones for practice and plug directly into recording device.
Thanks \,
David

I live in the city center and use a PDI-03, but it does not have a headphone out.
So I listen through a cute Mackie 1640i firewire desk.
Below is an image of my simple set-up a few years back before the Mackie.
The signal flow is anti-clockwise:

Re: Speaker simulator... anyone have any luck
I was asked to build a tube amp for a "zero volume stage". So I used a 100w dummy load resistor from Parts Express.
http://www.parts-express.com/8-ohm-100w ... mpaign=pla
Then I used a line out with a Red Box MK III Cabinetulator into a PA system. So the dummy load and the used Red Box MK III was a total of about $75.
However, to test it & see if it works ........... I ran it into my computer and listened to it thru my tiny computer speakers. I remember thinking that it could be a reasonable choice for someone living in an apartment. So, I'm thinking you could use head phones thru the computer speaker? BTW, it sounds great thru a PA system, IMO.

Re: Speaker simulator... anyone have any luck
I tried a 12AU7, 12AV7, 12AY7, 12AT7, 5751 & 12AX7 in the FX.12AY7 in the effects loop?
I like either a 12AY7 (1st choice) or 12AV7 best with this amp.
