Welagen Express build

Post by jelle »

Earlier this year I obtained a few parts from Allynmey. In that pile, there was a trainwreck part or two...lol. Also a senior builder sold me a batch of Pacific transformer sets for the Express and Liverpool. This batch was ordered by Ken Fischer but he never picked them up and so Pacific offered them to this builder, who sat on them for years. They were made in the early 2000s. Then Bruce Collins, Dana Hall and others kindly provided parts to fill most of the gaps.

And then the missing part was a good chassis, so I worked with RJ to have a batch of chassis made for this project. These are made to the specs of the chassis Allynmey used to sell. RJ is selling these through his website.

And so I started doing Wrecks, and they come out great. I really like playing these a lot. :D

Thanks! It came out good. That MV works wonders, it does change the clean to mean when abusing it for whisper level high gain distortion, but I like the MV a lot.

Nope, no sound samples yet. But if you want, stop by with equipment and we can make it happen.

Would love to, but its like 8000 km (5k miles) away. So it will take a while, if not longer :)

Nonetheless great work as usual!

MV is the number one request on my Express and Rocket builds but I mostly build combo amps by request, it seems. The Express in a 1-12 combo is killer mated with WGS Veteran 30 speaker.

Jelle, very nice looking build! It's a rare thing these days to come up with the Vectorbord and Flea Clips. Thanks for sharing. rj

No....Thank You for working with me on the chassis'. I worked with your other chassis, and with your (our?...naah you did all the work :D ) new one, and this one is great.

Do you stock them now? It would be good for others to know these are available, if they are.

Beautiful as always Jelle!

When staying true to KF's building technique, one of the benefits of going from an ODS to an Express is that it is much more forgiving on the heater wire twist-count!

Just give 'em a couple of overlaps and that should do ya fine!

Merry Christmas and Happy New Year to everyone on the Amp Garage!!!

Yes I noticed those black Sprague too.. Unusually small, no?

I believe the blues are Nichicons. Closest thing in look to the original Rubycons IMO

Hi, the caps are BMI caps, made by the old Sprague guys...and made in the USA.

Nichicons, yes. And they sound good too.

Jelle,
Nice clean work :) How was it working with the flea clips? I want to try that one day.
