Long and interesting video, ends with, "maybe? I don't know? possibly? more research needed."

It is a long video. I took the end as basically that he presented the information and left it up to the person watching to decide for themselves. I liked that he did show how the response of a speaker changed with use as scientifically as he could.

I wish he would have pinked or used white noise comparisons.

You don't "have to" break in a new speaker if you play loud (30w or more) and often (3-4 hours per day). It will break in nicely after 3-4 weeks. Most players don't have the kind of time or the room to play that loud. I do break in for two reasons, it weeks out any potential failures in 24 hours (usually), and the speaker's low end, low mids fill out and the treble is smoothed out a bit so it isn't harsh.
But if you're going to play loud, and often, it would be the same thing, IMO. Just my .02.

Re: Video: Is new speaker break in necessary?
I have tested many for exploring the sounds...
Expensive speakers i found that no need any break in- or long break in like weekes, ready to use immediately,
Many celestion top speakers - Alnico Gold, Alnico Blue, Alnico Cream, G12H Herritage both versions (UK), G12M (UK),
Eminence Alnico Red Fang is screamy speaker , which get break in after few years..
V30 will always be useless with or without break in per example.
After finishing with all celestion models, now im exploring Jensens..cheap and expensive versions.. here i found a lot of surprises , Jensesn C12Q immediately was good for everything! Then Tornado Stealth 100 but is little bit egdy from first run, so probaly need some time to relax

Concusion: depending of the suspension and rubber surround of the speaker.
