Is it possible to build #102 from one supplier?
I usually have to put orders in all over the place for a build, probaly end up using 5 or so places including Mouser, but I was wondering if there is a supplier Stateside where I could order most if not all the parts I would need to complete my build.
Tube sockets, some of the pots like the bias adjuster, switches including impedance, jack sockets, pedal chassis, Orange Drops, some resistors including metal film and PS, trim pots, relays and sockets.
Any thoughts would be welcome from those who order parts regularly in the USA.

Hi Rog
I'm UK based and have used Antique Electronics in the states:

I can't tell if you they do everything but they carry many of the bits that you require and I have been impressed by the speed at which they turnaround and ship to UK.

I found that I could get most of the stuff from AES, but I still went to a few different places for resistors, transformers, chassis, boards, wire and some of the caps and hardware. Even though AES had a bunch of that other stuff too it wasn't really the exact brand / type of parts I wanted. My biggest orders were definitely Mouser and AES, though.

I think you can get most parts from mouser but tube sockets and orange drops you will have to get from places like AES or Mojo. I'm not sure mouser will have pots either, or the large value filter caps.
'Checking out' of mouser is always so stressful because I always feel like I forgot something.. usually I do.

Thanks guys - most helpful.
Looks like I might be able to do a Mouser/ AES order and be done!
YAY
But it is a guaranteed, 100% law of amp building that you will ALWAYS forget some tiny part.
I usually do my Mouser BOMs late at night when tiredness ensures that the law will be invoked.
I certainly have had to order $10 of parts with a $20 shipping fee
This time I'm gonna TRIPLE check, no make it QUAD check

For me, the order problem is not forgetfulness. It is more related to changing needs due to mods, voicing, etc..

I know it's been said about a million times on here, but if you order the vishay metal films from mouser make sure to get the 2W ones, the 1W are TINY. They look like 1/4W resistors.
Then i would go for the 3W MF for the PS droppers.

Generally you want the metal oxide flame proof resistors for the dropping strings.
Like these.

Here's my Cents:
Use these type for any Carbon Film resistors (Slope resistor, R/J, Mid, Grids on both Pre and Power amp). they're:
http://www.mouser.com/ProductDetail/KOA ... iPbwdC0%3D
NTE’s “HW” series of 1/2W, 2% flameproof resistors for the Cathodes & sometimes plates depending on what voicing you'r building. These can be gotten on E-bay for cheap in packs of 10 from Radioshack. I've also used the Xicon Equiv from mouser, they're also 1/2w Metal Film. Dale RN65 "3/4w" can also be used on the Plates.
http://cgi.ebay.com/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?Vi ... 0896641103
I like the dale 3w " made in mexico" Metal Oxide's for the Power tube Screens
6PS orange Drops for the Tonestack, R/J cap, and OD circuit.
NTE 630v (rebranded CDE's) can be used for the PI, and sometimes Tonestack depending on what voicing (HRM's love these in the tonestack)
And the koa speer's Tom suggested above are the best IMO too for Droppers.
Alpha 24mm Pots can be bought at Mouser too, they'll fit the bill.

Re: Is it possible to build #102 from one supplier?
Wow some great info here, I have saved this page as a PDF for future reference.
I have used Xicons mostly, but will give the KOA a go too.
I have plenty of RN65s so they will get used of course.
Also most of the Alpha pots.
I never seem to get the PI trim pot right, I seem to always end up with the wrong ones too small or weird adjustment methods, what's the best one please for D builds?
I will also put an external OD trim pot in this build.

I use these: http://www.mouser.com/Search/Refine.aspx?Keyword=201XR
Also, I use Mil-spec locking pots for an external Trigger control, they can be had here on ebay:

Re: Is it possible to build #102 from one supplier?
yep, they go them - alphas and nichicon. Mouser and AES for everything but transformers and chassy for me - except for lowes for the screws and washers and those bits.I'm not sure mouser will have pots either, or the large value filter caps.
it really is a journey, and you just cant farm out the battle wounds
Re: Is it possible to build #102 from one supplier?
The nice thing about Mouser is the ability to save "projects". If you setup a project, you can click 1 button to order all of the items. For instance you might have one named "Wreck" and one named " Grumble". It also gives you the ability to check it another day when the"mind" is clearer. This is especially helpful for those of us who have CRS.

Yes, I use that feature as well.

Why do you like those specific carbon films?boldaslove6789 wrote:Here's my Cents:

Do they make a 1W version?
