You got to quit posting these. I'm breaking down.
I love that even at lower volumes you can hear the authority in the bass.
Thanks for the clips.

Great sounding amp! Can you discuss what type/mfg the resistors and caps are for those reading this thread in the future? I see F&Ts in the supply. Can't tell if the orange drops are 716/6PS or other. Resistors look all over the map.

Thanks to all for the great feedback. The amp really is nice.
Most caps are 6PS, some Xicon in between. I would love to tell you that it took me months to choose the best material and parts for specific positions but I really went with what I have/is available. I guess it has more to do with layout and wire routing.
Maybe it is the internal Dlator. This can only be elucidated if some other brave soul uses my layout and an apporximation of the wire routing.
On a side note: the best sounding ODS I ever built used the cheapest parts, and plain vanilla MF on the plates. Before that I had some Dale in there and the cheap ones jsut sounded nicer to my ears. And my first ever Dumble circuit was a Preamp I built in 2001 using WIMA caps and some 1% MF resistor of unknown pedigree. Fanatstic sound, Rats nest inside, cheapo high pf shielded cable etc. everything wrong in the textbook (which did not exist back then, at least not for me).....
YMMV
I might consider doing a run of PCBs of my boards.

Count me in. I'd also be interested in a chassis and those fantastic looking face plates.ElectronAvalanche wrote: I might consider doing a run of PCBs of my boards.

EA ,very good sound and tone!!really , You have to play outside your bedroom for a good testing now!
what the value of your resistor bias? have you use 120/130K res. range?

Hi Sergio,
thank you!
Bias is a 120k resistor with a Fender 10k pot to ground. Rest of bias supply is as in the handdrawn 002 schematic. My PT has 340-0-340.
Thus I have a range of 30mA-37mA on the output tubes. Measured with. 1Ohm resistor from cathode to ground on each tube. Might be a bit low, but I like the sound. Plates are at 444V.
Still need to test the amp fully up for prolonged time and scope the amp to determine pwr.

I didn't use the 10k Pot , how to wired the pot in your bias circuit?

from the 130k ( in my case 120k) bias resistor do not go directly to ground but to a 10k bias pot wired as a variable resistor (wiper connected to one of the outer lugs) and from the free lug then to ground. Connectiong the wiper with one of the outer lugs makes sure that you never loose Bias even if the pot should fail (wiper fails).
Hope this helps.

So I ordered some suede and send it to a cabinet maker and he did a great job IMHO. I still need to install the Alu trimmings and everything once the headshell is here.

Hey Mike,
thanks for your kind words. I am quite happy how this project worked out. The SSS derivative without the Reverb but with an integrated Dumbleator is really something special.
If I would do it again, I would consider mixing the FX-Loop using a CF mixer stage as used in the real SSS for the Reverb.

That would be a pretty cool project. I used to own Quinn's King Tone Consoul. It had reverb and a dumbleator built in. You could do some fun sound shaping with the dumbleator knobs.ElectronAvalanche wrote:Hey Mike,
