Post by jestaudio »

anyone got a good uk source for Dale mil spec resistors, tried the likes of RS, Farnell etc but don't want to buy loads off the same value for one build, or alternatively is anyone willing to sell me a few and i'll pay for shipping

Thanks, same problem unfortunately, ridiculous postage and probable import duties

That sucks, postage is a bitch. USPS First Class Int'll looks to be cheapest.
$9 to Canada.

We don't have a lot of options here either. Has anyone tried the 1watt metal film resistors from ebay. Chinesiums sell for pennies.

yup, i think so, ordered 2 sets of 1 watters from-a-da-china. used them in a rocket build, so no dumble content from me unfortunately. they are working and all tested very close to nominal value. however, the leads are TINY like what you'd find on a 1/4 W resistor. YMMV, but i looove my rocket!

back to dumble ->

Always very sus about buying from China, seems to be a gamble as to whether the stuff turns up

I order most of my stuff from banzaimusic, musikding.de and Tube-town. Fair pricing and shipping is not that bad with some of them. Can't remember at which one of them I saw Dales, but only half watt ones.
Farnell gets used from time to time, but due to min. order qtys, I now have quite a reserves :) no choice though, here in BG the options are even more limited.

1w metaloxide EU deilvery - 500V rated

1W Vishay metalfil - EU delivery

1W carboncomp - EU delivery

There's still several more suppliers in in EU / Europe for those who keep looking.... :-)

But as the world progresses in its own direction, the more you gotta pay the price for what is getting increasingly more off road than average....
Guitar amps and "High End HiFi" is getting more and more off road every day, whether we like it or not....

EDIT: and no matter how we think about it, - as long as money (read:profit) talks, more and more stuff will be outsourced to production in "far-away-istan".........
