Is it normal for the non-hrm to have a real trebly sound in OD mode? When I switch in the OD it is very noticible.

I don't think so. In fact, the non-HRM is a pretty fat sound, with a mid hump in the lower mid frequencies, as compared to the HRM, which has a higher frequency mid hump.
It might help if you list your voltages and preamp values, as well as your PI plate values, and whether you used shielded cable.
Last, there is a growing consensus that lead dress actually does matter in these amps. From my tests it absolutely does. A while back there were a couple threads about keeping the overdrive section wires away from your clean and tonestack wires. After reading that thread I moved some things around, resulting in a smoother and more fat tone.
