Interesting that Hoyt Axton the ~country songwriter owned this crunch machine. I read that Larry Carlton played on some of Hoyt's records. I wonder if Hoyt heard the Dumble, and was all "man I gotta get me one o' them!"

Thought I was going to be able to send you one for your kindness, I searched my parts bin and found the fem 4 pin XLR jack and the plug housing, but the not the 4 pin plug internals....sucks.

Redshark, you need a five wire cord to wire the plug. Four of the wires ground your relays and leds and the fifth is ground. Do a search for footswitch wiring and you will find all kinds of posts. (the photo is a real Dumble footswitch)

I though I could buy any dual foot switch on ebay and remove the stereo 1/4 inch jack and rewire the male plug....I though it was that easy!!

5-Conductor Wire Choices:

WIRE 5-cond 602-1175C-100 (Alpha, from Mouser... it works, but not ideal IMNSHO)

The Belden version of the above, which I used to by at a local shop and which was what Dumble used. A little better than the Alpha in that it is more flexible, but it still kinks somewhat.

Canare L4E6S-BY-THE-FOOT Microphone Cable by The Foot (http://www.fullcompass.com/prod/093596- ... Y-THE-FOOT). This cable is harder to work with because it is thicker, four wires + ground mesh and only two colors, so you have to be a little more careful when soldering it to the connectors to avoid a mistake. HOWEVER, this cable is rubbery, memory-less, it lays flats however you throw it on the floor, etc. If you are like me, you may curse while working with it because it takes effort to thread it through the connector's grommet, you have to attache a little wire to the ground mesh and solder that to the DIN connector, etc., but when you're done you will know there probably is no better.

...but... If your amp has a DIN footswitch connector, then couldn't you just use a MIDI cable?
