The Pickle

Post by dogears »

Todays musical foray is an improv done over a Zawinul track. Not sure which one, but it was called Pickle on TGP.

Gear was Fuchs 50, Hermida Z-Cab (thiele port) loaded with an EVM12L, Royer R121 mic about 3 feet back, and my Baker B1 on bridge bucker. Reverb is amp. No post production except for the smallest amount of additional room to sit it in the mix.

I did not make any attempt to optimally place the mic. It was sort of inline with the cab. Not sure if it was cone center or off a bit.... Just saying as this is a room mic and no closemicing. I think maybe a few degrees off axis would have fattened things.

Amp is higher plates and Skyline fwiw.

Funky !!!

- yes, not as fat as some of your other tracks but I just love the feel and the tumbling runs about 40% of the way in in particular

MORE, MORE.........

I mixed the guitar in mono. So, there is no stereo effect in the mix. Ideally I think a mix of the room ribbon and a close mic would be best. Guitar was fat as hell in the room!!
