I fear that my post was misinterpreted.

Yes, I am disappointed that I missed out on the chassis, given that I was one of the "I want one" guys up front. I do not expect Brandon to have 47 special cases for order/payment (or even 1, because then you have to do 47 just to be fair). I'm not exactly clear on how handling a direct payment using PayPal outside of eBay is any more painful than handling a PayPal transaction inside eBay, but clarity for me is not required.

I am VERY thankful that Brandon takes this initiative on his behalf and on our behalf as well. While I do not think he is selling them at a loss (and I do not begrudge his profit for one second), neither do I think that one of us who wants to build one would be a regular customer anyway. We're amp BUILDERS.

I look forward very much to getting one of these chassis, I hope in the next go-round. And, again, I appreciate Brandon for making all this possible.

If I take a pre-pay and then one of my vendors takes longer than promised then I now have to answer 30 "Where's my stuff" calls and emails, I really don't have the time for that. I will give notice when they are going to be ready, and at least 24 hours notice on the auction, that way it 100% fair and unbiased--first come first serve.
An easy, effective way around that would be a web page updated as needed with the status of the build, with large text saying 'PLEASE DON'T EMAIL FOR MORE STATUS', maybe even with punishment for people bothering you.

I'm looking forward to seeing your chassis. In my opinion, you've done the hardest part of building a great amp, and you're selling it too cheap, your kit would still be a good deal at $100-$200 more. I'm glad I ordered two at $195, it's like getting them for half price.

Honestly, I don't think I'd ever be able to sell an amp to someone who enjoy's building their own, so no sweat there- So long as folks are using my chassis to build themselves amps, and not using them to build amps for sale.

Sourcing your own is a PITA!! Go for it! :D I usually have to cough up THOUSANDS, provide the blueprints, cart everything from shop to shop (Just 1 piece is not an option btw) assemble hardware, board kits, pack them up, etc.

I'd LOVE to raise my price $30, my cost on aluminum went up, but I fear that I'll end up sitting on a bunch of chassis :(

You'd make a lousy capitalist.

Raise your price $100, make some money for your efforts. Add a little value if they start to pile up - like including standoffs and other board-mounting hardware, drilling the holes for the mounting nuts, punching the hole for the power cable. Run a sale at $50 off if you need to move a few quickly.

I don't think you'd have any trouble getting $30 more as-is.

All that stuff is already punched!! all that needs to be drilled out is the mounting hardware and that takes all of 2 minutes(did it last night!)

So My sheet metal guy is going to get cracking next week, and they will be ready to go 30-45 days after that.

My cost did go up, so I'm going to have to make them $225, before I shell out, does anyone have an objection to this??

I appreciate it, I really don't make a bunch on these, just enough to make them worth doing and cover cost.

Well I've been out of the loop for about two weeks now, and I missed the opportunity, again.
I will be keeping my eyes glued to this forum for another chance at a chassis.

Funk (Brandon), Thanks for all your wonderful efforts. Much appreciated 8)

Yeah, I'm in... hopefully.

Brandon, I checked Thursday AM and no post, apparently you mentioned "probably" starting the auction on the old "chassis run" thread Thursday after I checked. Friday, no auction post in the AM, it was put up in the early afternoon I guess, with instructions for the next day. I was gone from Friday AM 'til Early Sat. afternoon. Thinking (working) musicians are gonna be able to get messages from Friday afternoon through Sunday afternoon is reaching a bit. My only request (and source of frustration this time) concerns notice and timing. I'd suggest a 3-4 day lead time on the notification of when the auction will start and have it start on a more appropriate day and time, like Sunday evening about 10-11p Eastern time. Anyhoo, I'll just have to wait and hope for the best again.

Funkalicousgroove wrote:sure fellas, just buy 18 of them and I can do them however. :D

That'll total $3510  plus $200 for the artwork fees!!!
Ok, I'll take 18 tubes up models. But you can't sell any TU models to anybody else. That way I take the TU risk and hopefully cover my costs. This means everything flipped, including the boards. Think about it, you've got more engineering to do I think. Anyway, I will buy 18 and sell them right here for $265 each +$20 s/h if your price to me doesn't change. How would you like payment. PM me and let me know.

I'm still in, and hope they don't go up again. Some of us do not have deep pockets and is the reason we are trying to build a clone. Maybe some group buys on parts will offset the increase in chassis price. Btw thanks for all your efforts here Funk, I'm sure it's not easy.
