Audio clip of my 2nd gen ODS

Post by norburybrook »

As I never posted any audio of my 2nd generation I though I'd throw this up as I'm in the studio working on my new album today by myself.

Here's a little isolated guitars clip.

So amp is 2nd generation 50w ODS that was a combo I've got the head out as I'm going to make it into a head cab and speaker now.

it's going through the closed back, ported EVM 12 cab. Just mic'd with a single Sure Sm57 as I'm in demo mode.

guitar is my red telecaster. it has a strat middle pickup added. main riff is on the bridge pickup, the solo and second gtr part are bridge and middle. Pickups are hand made by Oil City pickups in the UK.

The amp setting as the same for all 3 passes. The amp is in OD mode and only the picking/volume control is determining clean/dirty

guitar is straight into the amp. reverb and delay added afterwards. everything is RAW and unprocessed/EQ'd this is the sounds of the guitar and amp.

thanks Fred :D I've not really used this amp much but putting it through the closed EV and running it permanently in OD mode/riding the volume, it's really starting to gel with my #1 telecaster.

Marcus,
Great tone and tasty playing! Thanks for sharing that clip. It's really helpful to hear clips of the amps that are being built by forum members. It gives us all a taste of what is possible.

Sounds great!

FYI if you want to put it in your post, just submit the attachment, then go back and edit and copy the link to the attachment, paste it in the body, and highlight and click the "mp3" button on the top and you can have a nice player like this:

EDIT Removed, Marcus now has it in a later post.

I'm also attaching a screenshot in edit mode so people see the idea of how it works:
PostWMP3.png
I just love having the inline player, super easy to listen while on the page instead of loading it in specifically to listen

Edit: Saw my misspelling of attachment in the screenshot, forever there to shame me in image, but I'll at least fix it in the post :D

I can click the link and get a download, which then plays in Apple Music. The imbedded player gives an error. This is all in Safari. Sounds great Marcus!

Safari must not support HTML5 correctly then. Sad... :D

Even when I was an apple fanboy back in the day, I still personally hated safari. lol.

Really, really nice tones there Marcus! Obviously, having your fingers helps.....excellent playing!

Did you put a MV on OD in your 2nd Gen, as with the hybrid?

Thanks for posting.

Cheers,

Paul.

Paul,

it's exactly as the 2nd generation in the files section with the exception of:

having the FET on the front and footswitchable. see the thread with Martin Manning's layout.
send AND return.
I have a 5k balance pot trimer on the PI

other that that it's 100% stock as per the layout.

I'm using the amp in OD mode all the time now, it seems to work what I'm doing at the moment. I would say standing in the room directly in front of it it's a little 'harsh' but once you stick a mic in front of it and put it in context with a band then those frequencies actually help it cut through nicely and it sounds lovely. I don't like having an amp pointing at my ears anyway for that reason.
