70's ODS gets new head cab :D

Post by norburybrook »

After my last thread about the sound of the 70's ODS through a different speaker other than the combo, I decided to make a new head cab for it.

I got the circular saw out and split the combo in two. made a new bottom for the head shell and added some extra wood and a new top and made a 1x12.

I've finished the heads cab and here it is.

the 1x12 will be plain old back tolex. I'll finish that tomorrow. It will house a Celestion Classic Lead 80.

yes, they were 10x the price of black ones!! I think they're fender jaguar switches.

yes, but he seems to have disappeared. I checked recently and all my old links to the site and email address no longer work.

Well after staring at this for a day or so I decided, it wasn't a Dumble without vox grill [emoji3].

So I changed it [emoji16].

I like it better.

About 2 years ago I tried to buy a chassis from that guy, never got a paypal invoice or nothing..
The material looked really thin, or was that my imagination?

Chassis are good quality IMHO. This one is very sturdy and well made. They're about 1inch deeper than the Amplified nation Chassis so you need to take that into account when making a cabinet. there are also no mounting points. I did this fender style with cage nut's into the chassis bottom.

Hi Markus, I am searching for some nice suede in the UK. Got a few samples but cannot find the exact colour I want. I really dig yours..where did you source it from and what colour is it?

Many thanks

Raphael.

Hope you're well :D been a while since you've ben here, I remember you have a new baby? yes? hope that's all going well for you.

The blue on my BM and this brown suede came from Barkers leather Ebay shop . I believe it's pig suede. It's nice to work with and I've no complaints.

I used the regular Tube town water based tolex glue and it's been fine.

Many thanks Marcus! I will look them up. Everything fine, I hope all is well with you.

I have indeed been MIA, taking care of a baby (9 months old now) while trying to perform at my job in the “working from home” set up has been something, but no complaints, everyone healthy, and I am seeing the little one grow.

I miss the amp building days tho heheh.
