Quick D'lite question...

Post by riscado »

I've tried searching, and despite the forum being flooded with info, I couldn't find it... from what I gather the d'lite is channel switching, but the "stock" layout shows no channel switching using footswitches, so I'm assuming it's the 2PDT switch in the front panel that is doing that work right?

Also the pilot light doesn't appear to be pictured, am I right?

This is the D'lite final layout I'm refering to, in the normster page.

thanks

Presumably, you're looking at:

Correct, this layout doesn't show the footswitch setup - channel switching is on the front panel toggle switch. Later layouts also show the pilot light running off the power transformer primary side.

Check the Brown Note forum for a more current layout.

I'm going through this all right now... Attempting to understand and put together the ODS relay and footswitch schematics and parts lists.

I'm on this quest with whatever assistance the gurus offer and learning to fill in the blanks for myself... I've had many very generous and helpful builders send me a PM with critical info and others that steer me the right direction if I get too far off base.

back to the point... I'm also making an amp that is really closely based on the D'Lite and I want to add footswitching to initiate the front panel switch options. If this is the same thing your talking about - read on.

If I've got this figured out correctly - to add a footswitch to do the job of the three little front panel switches - do the following: Mount a total of three - one SPDT and two DPDT - PCB solid state relays on a circuit board (or buy a board from the various vendors) and mount that board in your chassis somewhere in close proximity to the front panel switches. Wire those relays exactly as you would the front panel switches (don't wire the front panel switches yet). Use the PT 5V tap to make a DC power source and run it through the footswitch to power the relays. Now, for those three front panel switches, you can wire them in parallel to the footswitch, taking 5V to the relays and keeping the front panel options functional. Note, this means that the front panel switches can actually be SPST.

Then there are a myriad of options like using a separate 12V transformer and 12V SS relays. Many people want to have an LED light up to indicate what function is active - there are numerous posts on that too.

I've got an order coming in from Mouser soon and I'll be trying my idea out with those parts... if I've got it all wrong then hopefully the forum will be kind to me for posting such a ludicrous idea... and then maybe even help me get it right.

If the idea works I'll gladly share the layout and parts lists... in the meantime look up some of the work of AMPDOC - there are some really useful posts from him.

Here's Normster's layout for a D Lite w/2 relays.

Here's a layout for a 3 relay board (adds bright switch).
