I apologize if this is the wrong place for this or if I missed something obvious in my forum search, but...

Now that Metro is no longer selling complete kits, is there a good place to buy a quality amp kit for a Marshall Plexi style amp?

I am brand new to amp building, but would prefer to learn on an amp that I will really enjoy once it is complete. I'm thinking an early '68 (10,000 series) Super Lead or a JTM 45/100 type build.

Thanks!
I built my Version of the JCM800 2204, and it was my first build this Summer.
I have been around electronics most my life.
I built it on the 45 Blank Chassis A la carte.
The 100 watt would be pretty advanced for a first build.
And don't forget the Presence of 500+ V on most 100 Watters. I used the Triode Store Layout for the 2204.
They have several good 50 Watt Layouts, and also the 2203 if you want to go bigger that way.

Read carefully what you get, and Don't Get.
Good Luck,

Thanks, everyone, for all the help! =-)

I'm leaning towards trying my hand at a 50W Plexi using George's Metro Kit instructions. I've been able to find most of the components at ValveStorm, and have some choices for OT, PT, and choke (thinking the Metro spec Heyboars or Merrens). Mojo has the head cab. However, I'm having a hard time finding a 50w chassis, plates, and pre-turreted board. Any thoughts here?

Ceriatone isn't selling the chassis and plates ala cart at the moment (the kits are on hold altogether from what I read).

Thanks!

If you are building a 50, try Brian Wallace for the custom 100wt OT he had made for 50s. My next choice is Heyboers. Brian Wallace is the man. (and George is also the man.. and most of the peeps around here are the man..)

Here's folks that I've used in the past and are currently using for JTM50

Contact Brian Wallace of Marstran, to see if he has anymore of the 50W plexi chassis from his recent run. Also, you can get some parts and correct era spec'd trannies from him as well. FYI, a true Marshall plexi chassis does not have the same front hole drill pattern as a JTM45.

For a JMP front plate contact Rich aka Sparky, at rmolnarx@gmail.com

For a board, contact Brian here
