Am I the only one to have faith in Gary? Mind my words, he will amaze us many times yet.

Gary, I'm gonna leave that one alone.mooreamps wrote: Things are going fine...
He's probably right, I may not have the marketing savy as others.
But, I do design and build fine equipment.

Those guys are pretty cool and open to new amps, well marketed or not. If you want them to carry your stuff call them up!

You probably do design and build some fine equipment. You know what? I don't really care. Your whole attitude is like suicide, you're constantly stickin' a gun to your head and sayin', "Look at me! Look at me! I'm gonna do it." and I'll tell you what, from a commercial standpoint what you're doing IS like suicide.mooreamps wrote:Things are going fine...Voodoo_Man wrote:Sorry to hear that. The internet is like a giant megaphone. All you need to do is utter one mis-statement, it will be amplified and repeated over and over until that becomes your legacy. You can either adapt and survive... or not.
Once more and pay attention, there are a LOT of people here who design and build fine equipment. If I want engineering expertise I have some of my own. I can hire specialists and consultants to reinforce my weak points.
Gary, it would be great if you show up with your amp at NAMM or an ampfest some time. Let your amp do the talking. I genuinely don't care what's inside or what makes it tick, I don't need to see schematics or white papers on breakthrough concepts. If your rig has the TONE you'll have my attention.

Jeez GarGar, somehow I doubt that.mooreamps wrote:Sorry, but your rants are just falling on my deaf ears......
If there were any science behind your claims you'd show up with your prototype and let the machine do the talking. What makes me wanna puke about this entire scene is that you're laying on the hype, when it's all said and done all you have is a couple crude test mules.
Mixed power amps? OOH! AaaHHH! The average garage band has been plugging into as many of whatever they can find ever since cavemen moved out of caves and into garages, that's how we do mixed power amps.

In the meantime, I'm just now putting the final touches on my pre-amp CF tone circuits. Besides, I'm already getting plenty enough positive comments on my model-18 and new model-36 amps. The real trick is going to be doing the design work on Jennys 100 watt harp amp. This is the test bed I intend to use to bring up a prototype multmode power amp; 2 KT-88 running class A push-pull ; and two EL-34 running class A/B push-pull.

So - one can play both Dorian and Phrygian through it? Both at the same time for extra credit!

Does anyone know why? I've heard the 'Hot Cat 30' on a DVD of Steely Dan working on Aja in the studio and liked the tone. If you are a Steely Dan fan (like me) check out the 'Classic Albums: Steely Dan: Aja (1999)' video. Anyway are Bad Cats on the way out?CaseyJones wrote:I was just browsing Ultrasound's site, I wonder why I didn't get to it sooner. Unique business plan there and unusual market access. With something like 10 original Trainwrecks for sale and a couple Dumbles available I guess they're the guys to call if you want the real thing.

The are of course the "distributors" for Komet and Bruno.
Heaven help you if you're Roccaforte or Bad Cat, though. They've discontinued those lines and, being as they're no longer obliged to sell at the prices suggested by Roccaforte or Bad Cat they're discounting $400 from the manufacturer's lowest suggested retail price.

Mixed mode, schmixed mode! While you're screwing around with mixed power amps try not to infringe on Mesa-Boogie's patents.mooreamps wrote:Mixed "mode" power amp. Back on topic. My guess and it's just a guess: Roccaforte is apparently going with direct sales only. He's got the reputation, there's probably no good reason for him to deal Ultrasound in on a piece of his pie. Next guess: Ultrasound carries the creme de la creme of everything, it may well be that Bad Cat has become ubiquitous which is out of keeping with Ultrasound's high end image. Bad Cat isn't Peavey but they're not Bruno or Komet. Final guess: It might be all about the deal. I'm not going to guess about the specifics of the deal, if the chips fall on "No Deal" there's no deal.Voodoo_Man wrote:Does anyone know why? Gary doesn't worry about patents. His "Authentic gm Power Brake" was lifted from this patent from 1981 and he is still claiming his is different.
http://patentpdf.net/US4286492.pdf
He calls his amp a stereo amp when in fact he has a common preamp feeding two power amps that are voiced for high and low frequencies. Where I come from that isn't stereo, it is a bi-amp with built in crossover. Now he is calling it "Mixed mode" . The only thing new and different about Gary's amps are the buzz words he uses to describe the circuits he uses that someone else designed. Thank God it is made up buzz words that sells amps and not the way the amp sounds.
Getting back to the point of this thread, I think Gary should send a couple of his amps to Ultrasound to see if they would like to be a dealer for him.
