4 meg potentiometer

Post by ampdan »

I have a Ampeg Gemini I that needs a 4 meg switched potentiometer. I'm having an incredibly hard time finding one....Any ideas, suggestions welcomed. Thanks.

If you can find a non-switched one you might be able to transfer the wafer into a switched pot body.

Sometime is very difficult to find a switched pot with the value we need

have you try to get a same value pot of the same factory, also if there isn't the switch, open the old and the new and try to have a mix of the two pot ?

or a new pot with switch also if the value isn't the same

Some friends that collect old radio sometime do that

That's the problem. Somebody really destroyed the insides of this one...

I was actually thinking of a finding a new switched pot that would fit your application, and a new 4meg non switched pot to take from. That in itself is probably almost as tough as finding a 4 meg switched pot in the first place, who knows. Good luck.

Alpha makes a 5M linear. Good place to start.

used to be you could take a carbon resistor an a needle file and mod to the
right resistance. probably do the same to the carbon comp in a pot.
