transformer specs
I have a small transformer that I pulled out of a Teac equalizer. It has a total of five wires, three on one side two on the other. A search on the net did not produce any info on the numbers it has. What is the best method to determine what the windings are and other specs.

If it originally had wall voltage going to the primaries, I would hook up a cord to those then very carefully measure first the wall voltage then each secondary tap and record the voltages.
The ratio will be a function of these voltages.

Do you know if it's a power transformer or an output transformer?
If power and you can identify the primary wires, just plug it in like Tom says. Then, you can attempt to load test it and see if you can do that without letting the smoke out. This involves building out a power supply and using a resistive load.
