Audio Note Kit 300B/2A3
Has anyone used one of these to listen to recordings of their amps?

Not yet..... I do like the detail that a triode connected SE can make.
Whats the configuration of the pre?

Amp appears to use a 6SN7 input stage and a 5687 SRPP driver stage, according to the website. I'd say it is well thought out in terms of good basic engineering.
Of course you can build an equivalent or better amp yourself for less than the cost of the kit, but it wouldn't look like a commercial product...even though the pimped-out Chinese gold knob look, an Audio Note fetish, isn't my favorite.
If you are prepared to spend the cash, I give it my stamp of approval.

Re: Audio Note Kit 300B/2A3
Very glad to hear a positive review. The place The old lady and I spend the
most time listen is actually watching DVD. Some years back I put together
a small stereo amp out of shop scrap to plug the DVD audio thru. It was two
output trannies from one of those old German table tap radio.
It became two triode dressed 6v6 driven by 6sn7 mu-follower, and that was it.
I try'd all sorts of simple pre amps on that one, even the old lady liked the way it sounded.
I even tried out that free stereo hook up you sometimes run across on the web.
You wire two speakers series and out of phase between the positive outputs
of the stereo pair, and you get the differential signal, great for DVD's.
Any way..... It made listening an event to enjoyed, as a good amp should.

here's a link for an affordable 300B or 2A3 kit that i recommend...
I built one of them pre-amp in the 90's and was happy.
