It's good for engraving wood and GravPoly (the stuff I've had all my faceplates made from). It's great at cutting paper, and I have managed to cut 1/8" black presentation board and cardboard, but it's SLOW for cutting. Even the bump up to 5w laser is still only good for engraving, not really cutting. You have to get into the 40w CO2 lasers to do decent cutting.

Still, a nice tool to have around for $200.

I flashed my own Arduino Nano (which is the brain of this machine) with GRBL (open source laser controller) and I use LaserWEB (Mac and Windows) as the front end.
