Memorable Solos, without a bunch of notes.
Says more with less. Here's my entry:

Obviously Yngwie Malmsteen is at the bottom rung. King and King at the top.
Show me solos that do the most with the fewest notes.

Although I am not a huge Beatles or Wings fan, I have always loved the solo in Baby I'm Amazed.
About 1:50 in.

So simple but oh so soulful and moving...to me anyway!

Gotta go with cinnamon girl / Neil Young.

I have always been partial to "Can't You Hear Me Knocking" by the the Stones. I don't know if it fits the less notes criteria or not.

The one note solo in All Along the Watchtower, Hendrix version.
I build and repair tube amps. http://amps.monkeymatic.com

Someone different that can achieve impact in his compositions without excessive notes is Tino Izzo. “Dami la Forza” is an example, although there are some runs toward the end:

His arrangement of O Holy Night would be another.

The Police: Synchronicity 2, or is that II, in the solo Andy Summers rips it up and I don't detect any "notes" at all. Good soundtrack for an old monster rising from its Scottish loch. Absolutely TERRIFYING! Get goosebumps just thinkin' about it. Thanks for asking!
down technical blind alleys . . .

MC%*&^%$#! MF'ERS!!!!
I like sub- or super melodic themes, like the Wings example ^^.. I like all that George Harrison stuff from 70-75. Doubled slide and/or leslie kind of just hammering the point.
Badfinger.
I like notes though, too.
Best songs have no real solo. Best solos have no real song. This is why Stairway to Heaven is fracking amazing. Jimmy Page sucks, if I'm honest. It's his strong point.
umm... toot toot..

Signatures have a 255 character limit that I could abuse, but I am not Cecil B. DeMille.
Re: Memorable Solos, without a bunch of notes.
I'll offer David Gilmour as someone whose work is filled with solos that follow simple melodic lines that excessively packed with trills, triplets, and fancy rolls.
I think it goes without saying, the Kings, particularly Albert and BB are first rate examples of using space to make the point.

Leslie West's solo on Mountain's version of "Theme for An Imaginary Western"-for that matter most of Leslie's work....Harrison on Nowhere Man...Pete Towsend "I Can See for Miles"
