Saw Dickey Betts last night
It was ridiculously good, they were playing in a little park not much bigger than my yard for free, I was sitting 20 feet in front of him. The man has total mastery of his amp, two plexis with 4X12s loaded with D120Fs. His use of feedback was incredibly sophisticated, he'd move a foot this way or that to get the notes to bloom just the way he wanted. Still a guitar god at 65.

Holy crap, I wish I'd seen his east coast dates earlier, I just missed him in OC, NJ monday night.
Maybe he wears acoustically reactive clothing to control the hamonic feedback content through proximity and direction?:)
That sounds like a really good time, good fer ya.

I'm glad Dickie is doing better.
There for a while he wasn't getting very go reviews for his shows.
I think it was probably due to an ongoing problem with alcohol or other substances.
Good for him!

I started to say, "65! he can't be much older than me!" Then I realized– 65's not that much older than me.pine wrote: ... Still a guitar god at 65.
I hated to see he and ABB part ways

I caught one of those other shows a few years ago, he seemed a little ripped.Structo wrote:I'm glad Dickie is doing better.

He was on his game last night though, played like a demon for 3 1/2 hours with only one 20 minute break, he seemed like he still wanted to play some more after they were done

Dickie and Joe Walsh are apparently kindred spirits. Rumor has it the rest of The Eagles didn't want Joe around for the last mini-tour.Structo wrote:There for a while he wasn't getting very go reviews for his shows.

When you're that good you need a little sumthin' to bring you down to a more mortal plane. Booze will do it for a while, then it makes you more immortal...
Then mortal again.
Mus' be I'm gettin' the spins...
Screw it. I'd rather see Great Southern than ABB any day. Same with Joe Walsh. Too many egos on the same stage at once is a bad thing...drhulsey wrote:I hated to see he and ABB part ways
I believe in this and it's tested by research...
"I was sitting 20 feet in front of him"
Sometimes you need to pinch yourself to make sure. Saw Harvey Mandel in a small venue and sat right at the front of the stage, same with Johnny Winter with his firebird (cracked piece of the pickguard one).
