Bassman aa864 master volume mod

Post by spoontex »

Hi,

I want to mod my fender aa864 to add a master volume ( post phase inverter ). But I have a question... The cable thick does matters? The cable that I have is a XLR mic cable.

thanks.

That cable is fine, but don't run the the output of both sides of the PI down thru just one cable, use 2.
Also ground the sheild of each cable at only one end of the cable, extending that ground if need be to get where it needs to get landed.
The easiest place to land the ground if you do not have a 60 watt iron to land it on the chassis where pin 8 of the output tubes go will be to soldering it to the positive end of the bias filter.

Also while on the subject of that bias filter it really need to up rated from its stock 50 volt rating if that has not taken place already!
