Plate wiggler
While I was dialing in plate loads on v1... I thought, "wow, wish it would do this from 270k to 100k all by itself and in time."...
Wild assed chorus til the voltage settles. How not make stop?
You make go? Talk amongst yourselves. I'll get a pen.

How about a photoresistor (light dependent resistor) controlled by a low frequency oscillator driving a light bulb.
IIRC the Univibe guitar effect pedal (Jimi Hendrix, Robin Trower) used these in the phasing part of the circuit.
Seems like the one in the link below has a high enough voltage rating that it might be usable. The tricky part will be geting the upper and lower resistance values within the range that is desired.

Re: Plate wiggler
Simple. Tell it 270 and 100. Go little thing, go.

I don't know where you got 555 from but if that is 100+270 we are in business.

Re: Plate wiggler
Electro harmonics made a wah pedal with a bicycle brake cable and a clamp. You simply removed the knob to and potentiometer you wanted to control and your foot became your controller. That could become your timing. The 100k-270k. Would be a resistor and cap filter network that could be engaged via a true bypass switching function.
More high tech option. Little robots

Relay, timer, buzzer with a voltage control to adjust timing
Filter network to adjust wiggle room. Add a magic eye tube for a visual of the voltage coming off the buzzer so you can see the BPM pulse

What is it with you guys and the fear of the automatic?
I just want this thing to work.

I vote for little robots! If you could make it work without little robots that would probably be okay too...
If you can't be a good example, then you'll just have to be a horrible warning.

Finally. Some sense.
