Tony, your description of the Tweedle Dee is pretty much right on with my impressions of the original one. I think Dumble has squeezed as much wattage out of this thing as is possible and still have it sound like a 5E3. I hope those that built it and are building enjoy it even if it is not too radical a departure from the stock amp. Chip, turn the amp up and adjust the trim pot until you get a sound you like.(that works for ODS also ) I say that because this particular amp was for a guy that played a Les Paul. The sweet spot may be different for whatever guitar you are using. Also, if you want to sweeten the front end(less gain also), try a 12AY7.

Oh man Charlie -- that rocks! Thank you. Do you have a pic of the power side of the chassis (I know...I'm probably getting greedy ). What speaker was in the champ?Charlie Wilson wrote:Bonus picture. Dumble Champ!

Speaker was the stock Oxford Alnico and transformers were stock.

Thanks! Looks like Dumble liked the stock circuit -- it is really close to a 5E1, but with upgraded components and more filtering.Charlie Wilson wrote:Speaker was the stock Oxford Alnico and transformers were stock.

Charlie, thanks once more. The hits just keep on coming with you. Can't wait to see what else you have up your sleeve.

You've got a point there... My fuzzy old layout looked like 2.2k stock instead of 22k. That is quite a change!Charlie Wilson wrote:Yeah, check out the NFB resistor.

I recall the NFB resistor as 22k. I see this one as 27.4k - more of a tweak than a big change. He also added a 25 mF bypass cap on V1a cathode.mhartman wrote:You've got a point there... Yeah, I guess that is 27.4k with the stock being 22k. It has been a while since I looked at these pictures. I guess at the time I misread the resistor as 270k.

Ahh, I wrongly read it as 2.74k. Damn 6 band resistors...Zippy wrote:I recall the NFB resistor as 22k. I see this one as 27.4k - more of a tweak than a big change. It's all good, Charlie. I find it interesting that Dumble choose not to go over the top with this lil' amp. Refinements...

I s'pose it's easy enough to read it upside down but I see 274 x 100 - 1% - 50 TC. Ref http://www.1728.org/resisclr.htmmhartman wrote:I read it as 2.74k. 27k makes more sense to me.
