SSS #003 for sale

Post by Aaron »

Just saw on FB that Lindley's SSS is for sale at Carters Vintage in Nashville.
Anyone have a spare $250000?

Whatever one spends $250,000 on, is certainly a statement of what they truly value in life.

It is hard to comprehend, but then if considered an iconic work of art, which is subjective just like something such as a million dollar Picasso.
At least with this purchase one could actually plug a guitar into it and play it and it will do something. Rather than hang on a wall to be gawked at.

I'm sure you could entice Mr.D to custom build you one for less.

It would be interesting to know how many minutes or hours in a years time someone looks at a million dollar Picasso that they own?

Like all bubbles, this too, shall burst.....at some point anyway. And just because the asking price is a quarter-mil, doesn't mean there's someone crazzy enough to pay that much.

Interesting that it's not on their website.

They probably accepted a $70K offer.

A video clip, now that is clean. Love it!

Interesting tidbit mentioned, Lidley owned #003 and #008, and sold #008 to Ben Harper? I wonder if he means ODS?

Hmmmmm..........

You guys can have your ODS's, I love my amps clean!

Maybe it's a bubble, but sometimes its just plain, genius creating high High value.......Like the violins out of a smal town in Italy called Cremona...they are called Stradivari after the builder, who lived there a couple of hundred years ago. They are just old violins made out of local standard components like pine, ebony, maple and a little animal glue.
Diva or not? - Respect for Mr. D's work....)

Indeed, the priced of classical instruments is crazy. My friends wife was until recently the principal viola player for the Zürich opera and her Viola is valued at $600,000 !!

Lindley used two 1st generation ODS amps - #003 and #008 - and he used SSS 100W #003.
