Thanks for the info, man that sure looks like a blue band.
Maybe I'll throw the decade box at it and see what different values bring.
Earlier when I put the chassis on the cradle I bumped a power tube and broke the locating pin off...... but it didn't break the glass so it still works......
my stock DIY 5e3 was like that with cheap alpha type pot... I threw in one of my 60s nos cts and the range is much more usable... more clean range... if u don't have that maybe try a PEC audio... or new cts.... I haven't messed much with pots on this yet and have a tweedle in the works... also alphas are stupid out of spec.. you measure it? I like them in dumbles tho !
Nice job Tom, I used the 30% taper CTS 1m pots and the jump is not so bad!
Last night was the first time I played it out with the 400v/GZ34 B+.
I have 250R 30w cathode bias as per the CW amp. It runs hot but no problems with fan cooling the PT and chassis that I installed. I would try the hot bias and GZ34 for the true Tweedle Dee experience, much better than the 5Y3, unless you're looking for the more trad 5E3 sound.
I took my perspex screen along but ditched after the first song as it wasn't needed in that venue. I had both channels jumpered and ended up with them both just under 4, just holding back at times with the guitar volume and kicking in a TS9 or Spark Boost now and again.
I had reverb from my mini board running all the time. It is a great sounding amp with the Rocket 50, fine for small gigs or playing at home, full of character and grit when you dig in.
The other amp there was a Fender Super 60 and I wasn't drowned out at any point.

Can I add that the Tweed Deluxe combo is a perfect for grab and go, literally.
I had to park in a side street as the venue is just off the main road and so walked back to the car some 300 yards with guitar on back, pedal case on shoulder, amp in one hand and screen in the other, no problem
Nice job Tom!
I've been using mine at band rehearsal, I have to keep the input vol. at @ 3.5 and my Les Paul vol at about 6. But when I nudge the guitar vol up to 9 or ten, I get an even more glorious breakup.
We play a couple Zeppelin tunes and I often think that if Jimmy Page had access to this amp in the early years he could have used this amp for recording and never missed those Supros one bit.
Looks good Tom. Yeah that resistor is a 1 meg and I believe it is a grid leak resistor. If you have a 10 meg in there now, try the 1 meg. It may mellow things out a little as far as volume control.
