The 1/2 watt NTE metal film resistors as well as the EL34 tubes are part of the mojo for this amp, this is what Dumble used.

Some of the metal film resistors in the front end look like they may be Roederstein Resista?

Matt, Other info power tubes used in the real #183 Sevtlana Winged C There not cheap now. I used a 1968 Dagnal C1998 OPT sounds killer.
And play around with bright switch capacitors I used silver Mica 250pf and 500pf with a on/on/on switch middle position sounds like Jimmy Page 250pf Jimmi Hendrix
500pf AC/DC one other change I do on the PPS 33uf not 47uf that gets you in the JTM45/100 territory = 16.5uf
As stated you will need a 7.5 amp filament supply for a 100 watt amp.

Yep, it's certainly not going to be cheap to put some decent glass in this thing!

I've got a pic stack of silver micas over here I'll have to play with as you describe!

I'm probably just going to stick with the 50 watt version. I really don't need those extra watts for using it at home and in small settings, as I plan on doing.

Eric, your SSS #2 ain't to shabby either. Mucho skills there; an SSS is quite a beast to tackle.
I agree with Ultra! Eric, your SSS #2 build is one of my favorite SSS threads out there!

Yup. Roederstein MK3. Looks like the slope resistor (150K), two plate resistors (150K) and possibly the cathode resistors are of the MK3 type.

Search "Roederstein MK3" on Ebay. Seller electricslee has them @ $1.30 for 2psc. Pretty expensive, but if it's got to be right...

I wonder if they're real?

I guess the boxes look legit.

They are real. Used them for a high plate classic build.

Just contacted Heyboer about that PT! Hopefully they can produce another one for me. This build will be a 50 watter though.

Anyone care to tell me how a #183 sounds compared to my benchmark #102 or Bluesmaster?

#183 is now the last one on my list to build....

183 is basically an EL34 version of 102, with the newer "Precision" power supply (stacked radial preamp filters). It also has a bigger reservoir (2x 330u vs. 2x 220u). So, true pentode sound and stiffer response.

I never found the extra filtering made any difference to the sound when I experimented with a 50w build. I have used the 100w filtering on all my 50w builds so I guess that's more or less the same as the difference here from the 220 to 330 in the 100w.

I'll have a look at my PT specs because I could swap in a pair of EL34's and re bias and see for my self (if I have enough current). Is it the heaters than take more current on an EL34, I Know pins 1 and 8 need to be tied but I think i always do that anyway. I would imagine it's only really an issue with a 100w(4 valves)..no?

Yes EL34 heater requires 1.6A vs. 0.9A for 6L6, so a 1.4A increase for a 50W. For a listening experiment, you could get away with going over spec for a short time.
