There can't be much life left in those original almost 60 year old Mallory dual capacitors. Change them out.
You put all that work in it, why tie its performance to 60 year old capacitors?
Nice as that amp may sound, I don't love to see such a clean original example being modified. Originality only happens once.

I also don't like to modify original devices, but in this specific case, all the original components were kept for each necessary return to 100% stock.
I just restored a 1959 Fender twin Tweed high power 5F8-A, made it as original as possible

Got it. Some of the photos (the "before" photos) were the only ones that loaded for me. This time around I see the newer ones.
I still prefer to see original untouched amps preserved even over fully reversible modifications.
But a Bandmaster isn't quite on the same level of collectibility as say a Tremolux, Vibroverb, or Princeton. I'd really hate to see some mod one of THOSE when Bandmasters can be found for the task.

There are quite a few different versions of the "Ultraphonix" mod. Which one did you do?

Excellent! There is a need for a pinned Ultraphonix topic in the files section. Maybe this would be a good start?

Re: modifying Fender Bandmaster - Ultra phonix mod
really I had to study a lot about it, because the information about ultra phonix mods is scattered and fragmented in several topics.martin manning wrote: ↑Sat Mar 12, 2022 2:01 pm Excellent! There is a need for a pinned Ultraphonix topic in the files section. Maybe this would be a good start?

after the mods the amp became much more interesting, more responsive and focused, the frequencies more in your face
he stock has an ok sound only, good but nothing special compared to other vintage blackface that I've had the pleasure of restoring
sorry my poor english
