I read Miles' book years ago, it was great. His skills at conducting business in the form of a band are legendary amongst the people he played with. He could read people inside out, got the best out of near everyone and allowed everyone to be a star. He hired the best and expected you to bare your soul onstage, and most of the time got it.

I wish. I'm going to e-mail some friends in NYC and see if they went. Many of us parents/ middle aged folks don't seem to get out much. Surely there is a review in the Times..will check.

That's an awesome oral history. The one thing that struck me is that he is the only person I've ever heard who didn't think it was a practical joke when someone said "Miles wants to talk to you".
