The guitars sound different to me.TheHandsomeOrk wrote:a1+butwhatif wrote:Kinda nice but, The distortion is up so hi on these that it homogenizes the sound of both guitars--
Will my Suzuki sound the same?
Is this a clone amp, chassis looks like one of those asian ones?
Why is it so dirty with the overdrive control at 9 o'clock and vol at 3 o'clock?
What are the pedals on top of the head contibuting to the sound?
Why is the input volume set so high (3 o'clock)?
Is it a 'one trick pony' making all guitars sound the same?
Are the settings changed for the 335 and tele?
Need more info so that I can hear clearly.
What value resistor before OD trimmer and what setting on trimmer (seems to be hitting V2a pretty hard)?
sorry for all the questions just trying to work out the point of the clips.
Re: New 183 Video
Here's Matt with what looks like a Dr Z, this most definitely sounds like a Tele.
also Sonny Landreth's ODS in the background I believe, any expert ID on this?

I think Matt is a terrific player and love his Hawaiian stuff, also the LSL Tele...

Re: New 183 Video
Amazing videos. Thanks for posting those!!
Hard to tell in the videos. Is that just a T-Rex Roomate in the loop with no D-Lator or is Matt using a D-Lator in that video with the amp?
Thanks!

The amp looks just like, and is most likely Sonny's but the cab is a recent addition. He usually plays through his modified bandmaster cab.rogb wrote:Here's Matt with what looks like a Dr Z, this most definitely sounds like a Tele.

Re: New 183 Video
Hey guys
The Amp is Dumble 183 ( the original 183 )
Playing thru the loop is a Trex Roomate Reverb version 1 pedal & a Boss delay , model unk , short cable's going into the back loop
Cab is a thiele style 1/12 welagen , Speaker is a Fane studio 12L
most of the compression you are hearing is coming from using a external boom mic on the video camera & the utube audio transition
Thanks all for listening

Re: New 183 Video
Big fan of LC all the way back to the beginning
LC doesn't tap in to the OD channel much
I'm pretty sure he's using the clean channel , Pre amp master volume set high , PAB & volume pedal on to his liking with most of his clip's to achieve his sig note's
We are just the students looking in , Killer stuff , A true pioneer & sounding board to the man himself (HAD)

Some thoughts...
Thanks to the Amp Garage and its members, I have discovered so many new and old, (that last LC clip, for instance) influences.
I thought I had heard it all at my age, but there are so many players out there, thanks to you tube, that I can see and hear and learn from, from all over the world.
Just today I heard Sol Philcox for the first time, wow, that kid is good!
Also Arlen Roth and Sonny Landreth together at The Towne Crier in Pawling, NY. WOW what a place
I never realised how amazing Arlen is, I often looked at his lessons in old "Guitar Players". Also I mustn't forget Phil Baugh, amazing emotion and phrasing. It really is harder playing slow and soulful, I reckon. I'm no speed merchant, so that's my thing too.
I am sure that I have improved my playing, thanks to these people and my D-style amp, as no clams are allowed because you WILL hear them and so will everyone else, so I have had to tighten up my chops
now I am not relying on "talent boosters" to smooth things over.

I need a 1U rack version to match my Dlator, do you think we could get a layout knocked up? With talent levels that go up to at least 11...
