Have you recorded any clips of this amp yet ?

If so would like to hear them.

What do you think of this amp now. Was it worth while building and do you have the tones it produces still enjoyable ?

What speakers are you using with this amp ?

Regards
I got the clips links working here for my Liverpool.

Excellent job.

Great job as usual Allyn, are you going to post more gut shots?
Noticed you said "Loud" how LOUD? My wreck is extremely loud, I guess I better learn how to play guitar eh! I'm slowly gathering parts for the liverP now. Just down to a chassis & trannys.

In the middle of some Leo work all of that will keep me busy until the funding appears, barring the NAMM show in couple weeks.

Thanks again for all your help folks. Len

That looks great! I'm just starting an Express build myself.

Do you mind if I ask where you get your chassis and other parts? I checked the link in your sig but didn't see any chassis like that...nor perfboard.

FWIW, I have done the layout (just a drawing) for incorporating the London Power power scaling kit into the Express as part of a stock, original build. Nik from Ceriatone is working with me to make the circuit boards for it. It will require installing a third board where the stock filter caps are and a fourth board 'behind' the preamp tubes. It appears that most folks around here prefer to make their amps as close to KF's layout/design as possible but I decided that I wanted an amp that was more useable (for me) regarding volume while still retaining some of the qualities that the Express is known for...we'll see how it turns out. 8) I tried to keep the layout 'close'...the preamp layout is unchanged other than the power supply feeds. But if it does turn out well I'll post it here (I'll wait until I have it up and running before posting it lol).

Allyn,

Did you find that using 10K resistors in the power section made much of a difference?

I have a stock of 10k's but am reluctant to use them.

Fischerman, I get my chassis from Ceriatone. The perfboard is from my stash and almost impossible to get. I don't sell it on my online store.

Andrew, I'm not sure what you mean about the 10K's. Can you give me some more info?

In the photo it apears that the 4 dropping resitors in the power supply are 10K (2 series for 20k) as opposed to 9k1 is this right? I know it less than a 10% difference so it would make sense that it works fine.

10k is the value verified in the Ginger pics. Ken may have switched to 9.1k later on but I haven't seen any other pics of later Liverpools to say fr sure.

Thanks Dana,

That explains it, the schems and layouts in the files section show the same 9k1's as the express (at least some of them do).

There are two known types of power boards. The one used in Ken's first Liverpool and the other that is the same size of the power board used in the Express. I would also venture to say that the later style was also used in the rocket as it appears that Ken was trying to standardize some of his boards. The later boards are 3.5" x 5" with a 1/4" x 2 3/4" offset taken out to make more room for the caps.
