I'm thinking politicians should have all of their corporate sponsors listed on their suits (kinda like NASCAR).

If you can't be a good example, then you'll just have to be a horrible warning.

I'd love to see Americans finally get fed up enough to take to the streets like the Brazilians are doing right now. But I guess we're too busy playing with our iPhones.
It's never too late to have a happy childhood.

Speaking of iPhones ..... just this week cell service providers mandatorily remotely installed OS level applications to announce local and federal "alerts". You can turn off the alert announcements, but you cannot turn off the underlying application. Naturally, the real reason for the code is to track cell users.
And yes, John McCain is part of the problem, NOT part of any solution.
Vote out ALL incumbents ...... each time and forever. One term and then out ...... unless they reveal themselves to be sorry, corrupt, SOBs and then a fair trial, conviction, and life in Leavenworth Federal Penitentiary without possibility of parole.

Signatures have a 255 character limit that I could abuse, but I am not Cecil B. DeMille.

For many that would be biting the hand that feeds them..... that and they would have to get off the couch and do something besides playing with their iPhones.LeftyStrat wrote:I'd love to see Americans finally get fed up enough to take to the streets like the Brazilians are doing right now. This is a good idea. It could be improved on by giving each of 'em a good stiff IQ test and adding that number prominently to their suit. Then you could tell in a glance just who exactly you are listening to.Reeltarded wrote:echuta13 wrote:I'm thinking politicians should have all of their corporate sponsors listed on their suits (kinda like NASCAR).

If you consider that people who have bare clues about science, the best are different, but there they are. 650 people who are very average pretending to understand issues like the economy, appointing regulatoady bureaucracies and voting on how to deal with everything from soft drinks to missile deployment.
It's all about sandwiches for me. I vote yes for sandwich. Yum.
Idiots. We are all smarter than you.

Re: Not to be political
The thing that really bugs me about congress is that they pass rules and laws for the common citizen but they don't seem to apply to themselves.
Like after they retire they get their full salary plus health care.
No, not Obamacare, personalized health care.
My father in law (84) is fond of saying, the lunatics are in charge of the asylum.
The surprising thing is that he was always a staunch democrat.
But I think that party has strayed very far from it's roots.
I am really disheartened by our government and how things are.
On a positive note, I was pleasantly surprised that most members here seem to lean towards conservative politics.
Usually people that artistic lean the other way.
Way to go TAG.
I think I am more of a Libertarian than than anything if I was to label myself.
I'm just tire of our politicians not doing the bidding of their constituents.
They seem to do the bidding of lobbyists and campaign donors.
I hope this isn't too political, if so I will retract it.

I agree with everything you wrote.Structo wrote: ....... I hope this isn't too political, if so I will retract it.
A man has to stand for something, some principles. Never apologize for that. Never retract what you believe is the Truth.
The Democrat party has changed a LOT. I used to be a member of that party. They betrayed me. The Republicans betrayed me. They both betrayed the Constitution. For that they are traitors and deserve to be tried in a court of law for their treason. I doubt that will ever happen. The next best thing is to vote them out of office. And NEVER let any of them stay in office long enough to become entrenched. One term and out. And make them live by the same laws they enact of us little people, retroactively.

Concurrent is the ever faithful lap dog, Lindsay Grahmnesty.

It's called Elitism (Elite-ism) http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/ElitismStructo wrote:The thing that really bugs me about congress is that they pass rules and laws for the common citizen but they don't seem to apply to themselves.

They truly believe that they are above "the rest of us"
"Laws for thee, but not for me"
And I'm afraid that nothing can be done to stop it.....the Press is totally in the tank, and BOTH parties are working together to establish complete control over every aspect of our lives.
Sad times for those of us that have experienced at least some level of freedom in our lives....I'm afraid it will all soon be gone

Don't forget folks, it's not just Congress that's out to get us.
There is also the Supreme Court.

Apparently, according to Justice Roberts et al, you are no longer entitled to your constitutional rights, you know the ones in the Bill of Rights, unless
you affirmatively assert them.
So now, before you call someone an a--hole, you have to affirmatively assert that you are invoking your right to free speech, or he can have you.....whatever.

Re: Not to be political
Were it not for the fore mentioned iPhones I can a scenario, not far down the road, where there are squads of citizens going 'politician huntin'.
I realize there's little we can do at the moment, but how far do we let the Elitists go? How far down into the mud must we be stomped by those immune to the laws they enact before something changes?
No, I'm not for arming ourselves against our government (though there are many who are doing so). But what can we . . . . . Hey! Let's all run for office!

Re: Not to be political
I'm a libertarian and a liberal, by the dictionary sense:
"Libertarianism (Latin: liber, "free") is a set of related political philosophies that uphold liberty as the highest political end. This includes emphasis on the primacy of individual liberty, political freedom, and voluntary association. It is the antonym to authoritarianism. Libertarians advocate a society with a greatly reduced state or no state at all."
"Liberalism (from the Latin liberalis) is a political philosophy or worldview founded on ideas of liberty and equality. Liberals espouse a wide array of views depending on their understanding of these principles, but generally they support ideas such as free and fair elections, civil rights, freedom of the press, freedom of religion, free trade, and private property."
I am not a conservative, by the dictionary sense:
"Conservatism (Latin: conservare, "to retain") is a political and social philosophy that promotes retaining traditional social institutions. A person who follows the philosophies of conservatism is referred to as a traditionalist or conservative."
