Oh man I just freehand this stuff other than the big seam cuts (more than 5").

I've never cut myself while doing tolex...it's only when not paying attention, or knocking the knife off the table while wearing flip flops :shock:

Check out this thing...just finished it today, lots going on.

Beautiful cab, really like the corner banding. Are they metal strips?

That looks great!

The most challenging job I've done so far was a complete inside and out retolex of a Fender Rhodes Stage piano and lid. There was every kind of corner/transition you could imagine. I don't use corner caps to hide a bad job but try and get every seam perfect. I got a lot of practice on that thing and learned a lot about what will work and what will not.

It is funny looking at vintage gear. To anyone learning to perfect the art of tolex it will become obvious that speed was definitely a factor and not so much consistancy or attention to detail.
