I just copied the original as closeley as possible without using PCB's.

The tube is mounted as the original, and it is plenty snug. Since it is rack-mounted and not subject to cabinet vibrations it should be just fine.

What kind of shielded wire do you use? And can you notice any change in sound (less highs)?

I use an ultra low capacitance cable (11pf/ft) and it has "more highs" than the typical RG180 type cable.

How much do you need? I have a 1000ft roll I can break you off some or you can get your own roll from www.gepco.com it's the digital audio cable. 2 conductor, 24awg.
