most of the builds that that I've helped folks troubleshoot had problems with the controls side or the tube side wiring.

...with the eyelets if you try to make the wires touch and bend the leads against th back of the board you should be just fine.

with tweaks, just tack it in to see if it's giving you the results you want then remove and install permanently.

I have always bent leads back hard against the underside of the board before final closeup.

This was George's idea to begin with but maybe he doesn't know how good a trick it is.
Bend a U shape into the lead end, just wide enough to contact both sides of the inside of the eyelet. If you have enough slack bend it so that a tail hang over the eyelet rim.
Been working well for me.

Thanks for remembering, Shad...it does work, although it is hard to do on eyelets where there are several other leads coming in. It just seems like turrets are likely to be more secure in this regard.

Funny...I recall an interview with a dumble player (was it ford or carleton?), who said exactly that...The amp needed 25 minutes before the ODS began to sing...

Them tubes need to be hot.
