Most of what is already mentioned.
Ballad of Cable Hoague - anything directed by Sam Peckinpah
Day of the Trephids
LifeForce - Mathilda may
Invasion of the Body Snatchers
The Thing (B&W, although the 82 remake was ok)
Big Trouble in Little China
Bad Sci-Fi in general.

Lord of the Rings Trilogy
300 (pure art, killer action and cinematography)
Raiders of the Lost Ark (campy by today's standards, but an iconic film)
Bladerunner
Underworld (killer action and original concept, Kate Beckinsale in vinyl two-fisting machine-pistols, what more could you want?)
Star Wars (1977, none of that later muppet crap)
The Big Lebowski (phone's ringin' dude)
Caddyshack/Uncle Buck/Vacation
Pick of Destiny
13th Warrior (today is a good day to die little brother!)
The Count of Monte Cristo (Richard Chamberlain version although the new one with Guy Pierce is pretty good too)
Taxi Driver (you talkin' t'me?)
+1 for Shawshank Redemption!
+1 for Devil's Advocate

Re: favourite film?
My wife and I saw this film recently called "martyrs".
I've never been affected like that, brutal, too honest, OMG...
Had me quivering, one hell of a movie.
never been truly wounded by a film like that before.

Gotta honor "The Good Thief". Best heist movie ever. Great international cast and. Nick Nolte's performance is inspired. Based on the old french film "Bob the Burglar"

Re: favourite film?
I have to say my new favorite is Avatar.
The wife and I watched it again last night on Blu Ray.
The hidden agenda aside and no politics, it is a very well made movie.
I don't know how they render those graphics so well.
Superb eye candy.

Re: favourite film?
Yeah, that movie has stood the test of time. I think Raiders of the Lost Ark is still pretty cool too. Mindless, but fun.selloutrr wrote:the original star wars was amazing.
I'm still butt hurt about the new trilogy's use of CG animation. I understand bigger better fast more, being cutting edge, and all that jazz. had they just said F- it and used the old school techniques, Ships on strings, migets in trash cans, and cardboard space ships like they used in the originals to do the new movies they would have been 100,000,000,000,000,000 times more mind blowing.
Godfather. 'Nuff said.
Apocalypse Now. Way more entertaining than Heart of Darkness.
Reservoir Dogs
Naked Lunch
Matrix and Waiting. What? WHAT?
