One time years ago I was at a dentist to have some necessary work done.
They use a local anesthetic which is usually Lidocaine.
Most also include Epinephrine which helps control bleeding and makes the anesthetic last longer.
As I sat in the chair, the doctor shot some Lido w/ Epi into the muscle behind my lower molar for a lower nerve block.
Trouble is he hit the large vein there and it carried the Epinephrine straight into my blood stream.
Within seconds my heart started racing and I thought I was having a heart attack.
(how prophetic)
He just said, I was wondering if you would react to that, because he knew that he had hit
the vein because of the little window in the syringe that shows blood when you hit a vein or artery.
After that I request no Epinephrine when having dental work although the last couple times I have
allowed it since my new woman dentist is very good and I have complete faith in her work. (Plus she is cute)
