I've been using a Weber power tranny since '08 in a couple of builds. Right now it's a 6G3 or "Lenore". No problems for 6 yrs. I like the 125V primary tap as I have 125 VDC at the wall in my house. I also built a couple Weber kits for friends and told them "the Chinese transformers are fine!" I hope nobody's transformers burn up/out. Least of all mine. I'm keeping my fingers crossed

Here's Weber's BOM, must be kind of straightforward grabbing all the parts yourself for a 5E3.

thanks Rob.

I think that's a champ not a tweed, it's only got 2 valves, the tweed has 2 6v6 output valves plus a rectifier and a couple of preamp valves, a completely different beast.

I'm sure at some point I'll get round to building a 5e3, seems an amp everyone should have :) I was just curious about the Chinese kit as it was so cheap.

:?: :?: Eh? There are a whole bunch of Fender circuits on the BOM spreadsheet. Click on the 5E3 tab at the bottom. I was responding to the first post about a 5E3 :D

Specifically the 5e3 kit

$200 for a kit is half the price of anything I can get in the UK.

I've had good experience with Chinese valves.

I think an 5e3 would be a great addition to my studio amps.
