I never said I agreed with the sentiment that everyone that voted for brexit was racist. Nor did I think marcus did, he did imply that racism and xenophobia was at the core of the vote.Charlie Wilson wrote: ↑Wed Jan 27, 2021 1:53 amPhil, I think you missed my point and you may not like my opinion. The idea that all the people voted for something because they are racist is...well pretty offensive. Whether you live in the UK or you voted a certain way in in the USA. Again my opinion, not directed at a specific person, and yes political, Liberals have thing about if you disagree with them you are bad, racist, stupid, etc. and when you call them on it they get angry and don't want to talk. This sh.t is getting pretty old. Getting back to the topic in reverse, all the places I used to buy things from in the UK won't sell to the USA at any price anymore. Is that brexit or...?pompeiisneaks wrote: ↑Wed Jan 27, 2021 1:30 amThat was directed specifically at the british populus, and was an opinion and wasn't directed at any specific forum members.Charlie Wilson wrote: ↑Wed Jan 27, 2021 12:30 am Phil, this thread started as a political disscusion with words like racist being thrown out and nobody seemed to bothered.

I am bothered by racism for sure. It exists for sure.
But that's again too political for some, and I don't see how it is politics to condemn or recognize racism?
I feel in general humans should be able to speak their opinions without personal attacks at others. Is that an unclear line? I know everyone tries to make things clear black or clear white but that doesn't exist in the real world.

In fact I will quote him:
One of the biggest reasons for Brexit voters voting to leave the EU was Xenophobia and racism....period.
ONE of the biggest reasons. He didn't say 'all british that voted for this were... I don't know if that's true, I don't live there, so I have to leave that up to his opinion.
You also did qualify a blanket black and white statement very clearly that
But I only want to stop talking when insults fly, because that's when the other person isn't actually trying to listen to you, nor are they trying to understand you, they know you're a horrible person (wrong) and aren't worth listening to (also wrong). I was raised in small town Utah, and was always surrounded by conservatives, but was liberal from a very early age, against expectations. that doesn't make me better, right, or more important, it's just a fact. I then spent almost 4 years in the army, surrounded by almost exclusively conservatives that I find some of the most trusted people I've had in my life.Liberals have thing about if you disagree with them you are bad, racist, stupid, etc. and when you call them on it they get angry and don't want to talk.
The constant attempts to blanket fit people into black or white lines is the biggest problem we're facing in the world I believe right now. I don't see most conservatives as anything more than other humans trying to find happiness in life. I do see right now a small percentage of the facist right wing racist white supremacists running around a HUGE problem, but it's a small minority, not the majority.
I'm not offended by your opinion at all and so long as no insults are thrown, we can all learn something about one another and become more tolerant, aware, kind people... imo.
I'll also add I greatly appreciate all the help you give me with amp stuff. You're smart, talented and generous with your time. DESPITE BEING CONSERVATIVE!!!!
I may be wrong there, you didn't say you were, so apologies if I've misspoken.
